F-150 Tremor Skid plate installed

I finally bit the bullet and ordered the skid plate this morning. I'll be using 3M Undercoating on mine. I'd prefer it black since everything is blacked out on my truck already, and I want something tough that I can scrape up and not worry about it. It is a skid plate after all.

This stuff is great because if it get's scraped up you can just spray more right over the top. I've used it before and it's awesome. Easy to apply, minimal prep, and has the look and texture of a bed liner.

Ive had it on for awhile now and haven’t noticed any crazy cchanges to how truck handles. People just compliment on the front end haha. I think its worth it. No engine lights at all. Ive had it at 85mph on highway steady with no shaking at all.

Any mpg impact?

If there is its been minimal. Im still getting decent on hwy with 35’s. I think ive got 20.2npgs on eco mode at 72mph

Thanks for linking that 3M product. I swear it seems like I've read through every thread concerning this mod and have not seen that yet. Definitely a strong contender. Do you think it will adhere to the plastic piece? And on the topic of the plastic bumper pieces has anyone painted original top plastic bumper piece to match the skid plate package in whatever flavor you choose?

Finally got mine on my 22 xlt. It is lifted 6 inches so had to modify the back side of the skid plate.

My skid plate kit showed up today, box beat up, skid was flawless, upper trim piece that comes ready-to-paint slightly scuffed. Just trying to decide on the color. Has anyone found an actual rattle can match to the plates color? Was considering doing the upper trim piece color match as well as the plastic parts (still unsure) vs just going gloss black on upper piece and plastic pieces. Still got my silverish stripe on my grille but it's removable. Have the logo'd FP 20s so got red tow hooks to change it up. The whole 45% off accessories was too much to pass up. Truck is leveled on 34s - front fender height at 40"

HammaMan I also got my tremor skid this week and while I haven’t installed it, I was able to confirm the skid plate color is under the black primed trim piece. A little acetone or fingernail polish will take care of the black plant and it will save you from paying someone to try and match the skid plate.

Damn I got lucky/grateful. Mine looks like it a temor part that ford sprayed black. I have two part number stickers. I tried to check the back sticker but it stuck to the top one.

I've ordered 3 skid plate kits from Ford Accessories in the past two weeks. First two showed up damaged. Third should be delivered today.
The first one I received I was able to get some of the paint off using acetone and it was indeed silver underneath. The second one however was just black plastic...

I went out and bought every rattle can silver I could find and have one that's really close to the factory's plate. I'm just going to quickly run over the factory plates paint w/ 600 grit and put 1 quick coat of this paint on it, going with a little bit thicker amount where the 2 parts meet. That way going forward if I need to touch it up it's a $8 can of paint available virtually everywhere.
