I am in Canada

I have a 2024 that is waiting to be shipped. I am getting everything ready and doing research dealing with the finance guy at the dealership. Should I ask for At dealer cost or Lower? What even is the dealer cost for these plans?

And what is the best plan to get for extended warranty and maintained? 5yr, 100,000km?

Thanks

Even tho Granger in Iowa can't sell it to you you can easily check the price with them. That information can be used in negotiation.

You don't need to buy your warranty at the same time as your truck unless you're looking to include it in the financing cost (in which case you'll be limited to the dealer you're buying the truck from).

There are a couple places in Canada that will sell Ford ESP plans (Google is your friend here), and I've run across a person on reddit who's at a dealership in BC that can sell them as well (I've been in contact with this person via e-mail and reddit, and his pricing looks good compared to other sources in Canada.
Reddit post here:

(If the reddit post doesn't come up, a google search for this term will find it "Ford ESP (Extended Service Plan) Warranties Canada Reddit flubbs33") The reddit user is flubbs33.

I haven't purchased mine yet, but will likely add one before my 3 year is up

Seems like if that was legit they would be all over the Ford forums as the USA based ESP places do. ?
Not saying it isn't, but I'd be cautious.

If you have a US address to use , do that. I saved almost $4k for 8 years/160km, and it works here (Can). Although not 100% sure on the maintenance but it sure work for that as well

Fair enough.

I found one of them through a google search, and the other one was on reddit (found via google).

in both cases, I've corresponded by them via e-mail, and the people's names on the e-mail match staff on the corresponding dealer website (and the e-mail addresses come from the dealer site domains).

If you do... don't let them know it is registered in Canada.. they don't need to know that.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I will do some more re-search and see what the plans cost at dealer price.

And, I am trying to include the maintenance plan and extended warranty into the Financing as well, so I'm stuck getting the packages from the dealer. The dealer did mention to me that he will sell me the packages at cost, but I need to know what their cost it. They could be still marking it up and telling me that its at cost.

I think you have up until 40k miles to decide to purchase an extended warranty? Can anyone confirm?

I tried this on another thread but have not gotten any responses so I thought I would try it here…

I have a 2023 XLT PB that I purchased 5/17/23. I love it. I have 21,500 miles on it in just under one year. I’ve had a few of the more infamous issues (SSN, Trailer Brake Fault) but none that have resulted in long stays at the dealership thanks to the info and support on this forum and a cooperative dealer.

I use it as a daily driver and for towing a utility trailer and recently a 25’ Lance travel trailer. The ProPower OnBoard has been fabulous for the RV.

Because of the amount of miles I plan to drive over the next several years I have been interested in an extended warranty. I have two questions I hope can be discussed in this thread:
1. WHEN is the best time for me to purchase an extended warranty? Before the 12 month ownership date or wait until closer to the 36,000 mile mark?
2. WHO best to purchase from? Grainger, Lombard or dealer?

I’m looking forward to information and opinions…

I would reach out to Granger, Zeigler, Lombard, or any dealer for quotes. I believe the sooner you buy it, the less it costs. Regardless when you buy the ESP, the start date is your in service date. In your case, that would be 5/17/23. Granger is/was advertising $25 over cost. You can do it on line as well.

All of those will generally be about the same cost. Many here go through Granger and I have too, but some have had good experiences with the others.

Ford Extended Warranty - Ford Protect (grangerfordextendedwarranty.com)

Granger will give you a nice spreadsheet with all the costs for the various deductibles, mileage and years so it is very easy to compare. The biggest thing is to size it based on your driving history. If you drive 20k miles a year getting a 100k mile 10 year coverage does not make any sense and you will be over paying. Your miles will run out and term the ESP at about 5 years so all those extra years that you paid for will be a waste. Size it right and that Granger spreadsheet of costs will be a great tool for comparison.

Good luck and welcome to the club. :)
