I have a brand new 2024 f150 that has been at the dealership for exactly 1 month. The transmission is slipping bad and they said it has burned clutches. Other than that they don’t give me any information. They said they are waiting to see if ford wants to replace the transmission or rebuild it. It has 15,000 miles. It has been in the shop for a straight month and not moved the parking spot it’s in. What am I supposed to do about a vehicle. Keep borrowing family members week after week. I feel like a bum and this is a brand new truck. So disappointing. Do any of you all have any suggestions or something I can try?

Very frustrating

You can try calling Ford customer service to see if they can get you in a rental.

Not sure if that will work.

If possible next time you have warranty work done. Go to a dealer that has loners.

My truck was down for 3 weeks and luckily I have my wife’s car but it still sucked and the dealer was like oh well.

I never had an issue getting a loaner when I had a BMW.

I understand why some dealers don't but it is bad service to not help someone when it is their only car.

If you bought it new it should qualify for Lemon Law. Time to start the process. That will light a fire and if they legitimately can’t get parts, you can start shopping for a new one.

Man I feel your pain; hope it works out soon....I purchased a new 2024 F-150 XLT one week ago. Delivered to me with 130 miles. I drove it for 7.7 miles and the gear selector stuck in (D). I've drove the truck for 7.7 miles and was in my possession for 4 1/2 hours. It's now at the Ford dealer going on two weeks with no sign it's going in the service bay anytime soon.

Lemon law only in place if your vehicle has had multiple issues consistently not for just one instance ,Good luck with that !

Have them apply a "Unit down" flag on your account. This triggers Ford to provide a Rental for warranty work. I just had my Digital dash replaced. Took them 3 weeks to get parts!

Good Luck!

It depends on the state it's happening in. For example, in Iowa, if the dealership has the vehicle for 30 or more days it qualifies. It does not need to be 30 days from multiple visits, it can be one.

Just looked at KY lemon law. 30 days is the threshold. However, it's also 12K miles and the OP says he has 15K miles. Was the truck a loaner/demo/FCTP? If so, he might be OK depending on what the mileage was at delivery.

man it’s brutal. I just don’t understand how they can do that. Seems like you agree to a purchase agreement with expectations that you can drive the vehicle

I have a brand new 2024 f150 that has been at the dealership for exactly 1 month.
I would go down to the dealership in person and ask what the status is... when they give you 'we know nothing' response I'd point out that you have been patient for a month now and that you think they should give you a loaner to get around. I'd also point out that you have nothing at all to drive and have been borrowing vehicles.

It's harder to fob someone off to their face than over the phone. Also I'd give it a go on a Monday afternoon if poss as other loaners my be returned.

If they try to fob you off then I'd ask to speak with a service manager. If that doesn't work I'd point out you bought the thing new there and ask to speak with a dealership manager.

If they still say they have no loaners ask to see what day their other loaners are back and reserve one, and if that fails I'd speak with the service manager about a rental reimbursement...
