I have been accused of being a Ford employee both publicly and privately here on the forum.

Seems odd because I rant as much as anyone regarding what I believe are the shortcomings and failure points. Admittedly my rants aren't exactly laced with vitriol. But that's just because we are discussing trucks, rather than life & death. Lol

I'm employed in the general Aviation industry and have worked for the same company for 22 years. My mug is clearly exposed for the world to see on the corporate website. They even had some professional photo-shopping done so little kids wouldn't be scared if they saw me.

This is beyond crazy. It seems, the newer the truck, the worse this issue is getting. I have some quirks in my PB, like the drivers side rear passenger door stopped unlocking when you touch the drivers door handle (it does work when you touch the front passenger side door), but this OTA stuff is getting out of hand. My local dealer said they have just flat out stopped trying to do the updates, because it has failed time and time again. Best truck I have ever owned, but Ford has gotten way in over their head with all this tech. I need to hop over to the Lightning forum and see how those trucks are operating, because I can't imagine it is going well.

There is but it takes time.. and a really good battery tester. They use this little thing that does a 2 amp draw test and claims its fine.

Recommendation for the reasonably priced tester for occasional use?

Well, the second dealer I left my truck with for the BC updates just admitted to me they can't figure out why my truck isn't taking the updates after I called my service advisor and asked him why nobody has touched my truck for over 48 hours. They blamed it on the first dealer that tried to perform the update saying they messed something up. Back to square one.

Jesse, am I a candidate for self downloading from USB as you have helped others perform? I just picked up my f-150 and they had update issues and gave up. Trying to get my bluecruise working. Also my bed camera is blue screen. they said it was fixed but it’s still blue.

Good news, I think. I have a job 1 truck that had the automatic updates greyed out, no sync or revision information listed and dealer insists I need a new APIM but no eta.
Jesse sent me the usb files a few weeks ago but nothing happening yet. I put the truck on a battery tender last weekend but still nothing. So tonight I back the truck out of the garage (it hasn’t been used for the last 4 days) and the 12 inch screen seemed dim. I go to adjust the brightness level and I see the message ‘system updating’ and the automatic update button is active. I also have a sync and revision number listed. Woo hoo!

I leave the truck running and when the update is done I get the restart required message. I do that and now the sync is at 21146, revision 145 but the automated update button is greyed out again. Last I looked the usb stick light is still blinking so I’m hoping something more is being updated.

Further update. Went back and re read Jesse’s instruction and he says wait 30 minutes before doing the restart and he is right. Went out after 30 minutes and got the message the update was successful and the usb can be removed. The automatic update option is now active.

I’m at revision 145 so hopefully now I will start getting updates.

You are several updates away form being close to BlueCruise.

They did do your IPMA> I bet youre having issues with your Adaptive cruise.

You need Your IPC, Gateway, APIM is WAY< WAY behind. You have some things thatneed to be done.

I just got back from a 1,600 mile trip and it wasn't my adaptive cruise that wasn't working it was the lane keeping. I did not realize how much I liked that option until it wasn't available.

It goes back tomorrow to the dealership. I have a case open with Ford and the dealership is supposed to work with Ford to get it worked out. Not too hopeful after everything everyone has posted here.

I agree that’s a great feature on the f150.
I’m taking my truck in thurs to argue about voltage issues causing electronic gremlins.. battery is likely the issue. we’ll see how much bs they can pull. I’ll post my update as well.

Oh and last time I was in the tech was climbing on the front of the truck.. he did something to my wipers and the driver side hit the Pillar now when they are turned on. So I’m going to try and get that adjusted.

Hate to pile on, but my head is starting to spin reading about all the various OTA fixes etc. Got my truck back from the dealer last week because I had a greyed out update button. Dealer performed a 22B08 ECM recovery, still no blue cruise but I’m at least showing a revision number now.

No OTA updates yet, I’ve taken to putting the truck on a trickle charger whenever I get home so my battery should be fully topped up.
