I was pulling onto a state highway yesterday and visibility was limited due to sign (temporary; installed to advertise who a construction project is financed by). I had to go full throttle once I entered the highway. First, I was pleased to have the power, but I glanced down at the dash and noticed my boost gauge was spiked. Following that, it sounded as if what I can only describe as an aftermarket cold air intake sound and it almost seemed tactile, like I could feel it through the steering wheel. I lifted out of fear I was damaging the engine, but also because I was well clear of the UPS truck that was hiding behind the sign.

Question is, since this was my first time at full throttle, is a sound like that normal? Happened about 5 minutes after startup, air temperature about 80°.

Possible issue with the air intake snorkel that's mounted to the top of the radiator collapsing down under full boost. This causes the passenger side turbo to be starved for air. It's a known issue on the 3.5 EB engines. Ford's solution was to redesign the air deflector in front of the snorkel to allow more air in but the snorkel still collapses under full throttle. Cobb Tuning has a support brace the solves it.

I've heard about those braces from Cobb. They don't have MY24 on their fitment list but I'd like to try it. Is it the actual opening/entry point of the snorkel that's collapsing?

This is from the link he sent earlier:
WHY?
We can frequently achieve reliable power and torque gains over the stock calibration without installing any physical modifications, but when developing our performance calibrations for the Gen3 Raptor, we noticed some interesting issues with the intake system after only adding a small amount of power.
The leading edge of the snorkel that rises from the lower airbox to overtop of the radiator core support is constructed of very soft, very thin rubber. Making things worse, a significant portion of the cross sectional area of this piece seals against the hood of the truck, making the actual airflow path pretty thin. This system works okay in factory form, but when turning up the boost we've seen it turn into a big problem and collapse under vacuum.

After seeing an underhood video showing the snorkel opening sucking in on itself I ordered one for mine and it fit perfectly. The only major change Ford made between the year models was the opening on the plastic trim that sits over the radiator in front of the snorkel to allow more air to it, so it'll fit. Takes about 20 minutes to install it too.
