I’ve got a partial DRL failure on my left headlight (302a LED reflector), the top part of the bar is dim/out. My truck has a CPO comprehensive warranty on it but unfortunately it explicitly excludes light assemblies. Has anyone tried to repair these themselves rather than replacing the entire assembly? If I can get this done for less than the $1700 a new OEM assembly costs I’m money ahead.

I am not sure about this, but I wonder if the module can be switched over from the working one to the bad one and see if it is the LED or module that is not working. Just to test.

it’s a f*cking shame that ford can’t use high quality parts even though they’re MSRP are ridiculously high. my previous non ford trucks never had a problem with their LED DRL going out.

Like the CEO said...2400 parts less...instead of 8 to 10 parts for headlight...only 1.

I wonder if these 2021-23 DRL failures are part of the reason the 2024's have the new segmented DRLs?

Nah, it's aesthetics. The overall light on the projectors is slightly smaller housing, the XL/XLT/Tremor is a bit smaller still. The DRLs are going to behave in the same manner. The interesting part is that my understanding is that the BCM FET controls the brightness by its frequency so not sure why the DRLs burn out unless the module on the bottom is actually handling it. I haven't scoped the DRL line from the BCM to see if it's controlling it directly or not. All other dimming lights is done by the BCM via PWM unless it's controlled via LIN. As the light fades out you'll see the flicker, where brightness is achieved by turning the power on/off fast creating a dimming effect.

These threads are making me curb my thoughts of another King Ranch after I burn up this new STX. Fed up with the asinine costs to buy, the repair parts, all the new black plastic, the reduction in quality, all while the prices skyrocket.
My Lightning had ONE of three or four modules puke that coordinate the 360 cameras. The bill showed $7,500 and change. That was ONE. Thank goodness it was warranted.
Fords starting to remind me of the old Zenith quote “The quality is ripped out before the parts go in”.

It could be easily fixed by swapping in a new/working DRL board, its just one boards with a LED for each light pipe. The hard thing is getting into the light however. Anymore you just need to the cut the lens off then reseal, that how all the retrofitters are doing it now and how it was done on mine when I got them customized. So if you know a buddy or someplace close that could get into it, it would be petty simple, but you'd have to find a whole new housing too to steal a board out of as well. At this point just find a nice used one, they are pretty cheap to find now.

I really like the 302a lights I have more than any other light EVER put on a truck. Why are these failing? What fails in them? When I had my recall done for flickering DRLs, they replaced the AIPM module I think. What's it all mean?
