I’ve read this entire post, great info btw, my question isn’t regarding brightness but I would like to have my LED outside lights on when I turn on my parking lights or headlights ONLY. I dont want them on all the time. I want the tops and bottoms to just come on when I turn on my parking lights or headlights.

Is this something I can change in Forscan? Or could it be changed up within the wiring? I’m having my Headlights color matched and if I can’t change it in Forscan I’ll have them rewired when they are opened up.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Your LED bars on your headlights come on when you go into drive and shut off when you go into park. There is Mode 2 on the headlight switch, which leaves your front LED bars on as well as your tail lights, but will alert you that the it’s left on Mode 2 until you put it back in Mode 1 or 3 when the truck is off.

The other way is via FORScan that changes your DRL from front LED bars to including your brake lights as well.

Hope these help!

So the Leds will be on anytime the truck is in Drive? I’m not wanting them on during the day, just to come on when I have on my parking lights/headlights?
Sorry for the confusion, I’m just not wanting them on all the time.
Is that possible in Forscan?

No worries at all. Yes the front LED bars (headlights and fogs LED bars) will come on when the truck is in drive, it’s standard.

Are you talking about the actual headlights to turn on instead of just the LED DRL bar surrounds?

Have you turned DRL off in the centerstack? I'm not sure if the LED bars turn on with marker lamps on the standard F150 but they do on my raptor. If you haven't turned the DRL off i would try it and see if they turn on with the parking lights.

Just the LED outside bar (top/bottom)

I don’t want them on when driving during the day, just want them to come one when I turn on the Marker lights/headlights.

I’m hoping I can do something in Forscan.

If not, i may try and wire them up and just tap them into the parking lights.

Yeah I’ve tried that.
So just to clarify, I also have a 2018 XLT but have Spyder headlights and it gives you the option to have DRLS on all the time or you can wire them to the parking lights so you don’t have them on all the time, just when marker lights/headlights are on.

They will turn on automatically in the drive position but shut off when parked, that's normal. If you do not want them enabled when in drive, are you saying you want the DRLs disabled during the day? This will require you to always leave the headlight switch in Mode 1 after a FORScan change or if you have the option to disable in centerstack if it allows you to.

I thought the DRL is disabled by default for people in the US? I know it's required here in Canada by law (I know this by my uncles are RCMP and I myself am a first responder too). DRL disable option on any F-150s won't allow you to disable them without FORScan change (Canadian models).

So you disabled the DRL in the centerstack. So the LED bars do not come on when in drive. So now you just want those LED bars to come on when in parking light mode? The LED bars will automatically turn on when your headlights turn on so that not a issue. Can you verify that the LED Bars dont come on with the parking lights on?

Sorry I misspoke, I don’t have the option in the center stack.
And yes, I just want the outside bars to come on when the parking lights are on. When it’s daytime I don’t want them on at all.

@Bigvol77
You looked in the correct location?
Settings -> vehicle-> lighting->Daytime Running Lights

Just an update, I had turned my duty cycle down from 75 to 65 and was still getting the flicker occasionally . I have since gone down to 50 and flicker is gone for the moment. With both of these changes I didn’t notice any difference in DRL LED light output, 50 is the same as 75 and both are way. Tighter than the stock 10.

@abd79 Have you checked to see if your fuses are properly seated all the way? Someone had a light flickering on a new 2022 and found the fuse wasnt seated all the way. Seating it all the way seemed to fix it.
