I have a 2021 F150 XLT 3.5 ecoboost, and wondering why my headlight DRL
Is already burnt out? The dealers said since it’s past the 3 year warranty, I would need to pay for the repair, which would mean a whole new headlamp replacement! That’s crazy that you can’t replace the bulb, and that you have to replace the entire headlamp for over $2k! That’s terrible of Ford to do that, and feel like something is wrong and should be a recall. Any help or suggestions because that’s not right to have to replace it when my truck is only 3 years old. If people knew that about the headlights, that might sway people away from purchasing the truck.

Might be time to buy an extended warranty plan from Ford for $1200.00 and then bring it back under warranty. These parts are so dam expensive that one claim seems to cover the cost of the plan. ?

Shoots I did buy one with the dealer under Protective, but it doesn’t cover any electrical, unreal!

If you have a ford ESP, call them up and say you want to add LED coverage and then it's covered.

Dam, I'll have to take a look at the plan I bought for my 21 back in the day. They always pull this BS with the fine print in these warranties. I noticed that the current plans Ford offers as of 24 specifically have an adder to include LED lighting. What a game they play.

Anything manmade is subject to failure. I too bought an extended warranty due to the cost of maintaining parts on my truck. Leds are very expensive to replace along with all the electronis.

I am curious, did you increase DRL intensity with Forscan?

I've seen a few 21-23 XLT's in my area with the same issue.

Noticed the same thing on mine two days ago. Seems like 3 years is terrible for LEDs that are supposed to have thousands of hours on them.. Driver’s side completely out. Just the top bar on the passenger side. Have not ever used Forscan. I did get an extended warranty(not Ford’s) at time of purchase. Will see if they are covered.

This just happened to me as well. Everything fine, see a post, then notice mine is same. Seems like the best option is to buy one from somebody on here or eBay, and just replace it. I’ve seen them with broken tabs for about $250 and $500 for a pretty good one.

The vertical LED bar on my drivers side headlight went out at the end of May at around 34,500. I was able to get my truck to the dealership and long story short (Ford’s bureaucratic warranty approval process) they replaced the entire headlight within a week. I tried to convince my SA that my passenger side was a bit dimmer but he knew Ford would decline it. Now guess what happened 4 days ago at around 36.600 miles…YEP! my passenger side vertical LED is completely out. Probably just going the eBay/amazon route and going aftermarket (factory look) replacement, since I’m not sure how much longer I’m going to keep this truck and/or trade it in. For any of you tech guys that know, if I go that route, is the headlight simply plug and play or is there some Forscan programming/coding that I need to do?

No, just left them at stock.

No I didn’t, which is more upsetting to only last 3 years

Hopefully Ford realizes this and does a recall!

It cannot be a coincidence as it happened at 29,000 miles, and now my passenger side is starting to fade out too, the same outside vertical light only. I’m at 30,400 miles now, unreal! This has to be a fuse/chip issue?

There is a guy on YouTube.
He does an in depth examination of the problem. The only thing that he does not do in part 2 is the increase brightness. You will understand why when you watch the videos, that he assumes that will not work either.
