Does anyone know why the door lock buttons on the handles are so hit-and-miss? Mine either work right with a gentle tap, or I could be standing there in the parking lot pushing full force looking like an idiot and they do nothing. The ones on my 2016 Lariat were MUCH better and worked every time with a soft touch. It's so inconsistent that I can't ever use them reliably and have taken to using the bottom two door code buttons to lock it every time.

I have the same issue on my 23 pb. It is my first car with push button and I still don't have it figured our correctly. I was originally thinking that they would lock automatically when you walked away, but that is not the case either. it just makes no sense as to why it works sometime and not others. I end up pressing the lock the keys most of the time. Sometimes, when I use the key pad to lock, it doesn't want to always automatically unlock for me. I either need to press the key fob or enter the code. I guess I am glad I am not the only one having this issue. I do think I may have a battery issue that I need to get checked at the dealer, so wondering if that could be the cause of it. I drive it a lot, so it should not get low from inactivity. I also wish the auto unlock worked on the back doors. having to open the front first is a bit of a pain when you have a handful of groceries.

Oh that's even more of a pain. Luckily my door handles are relatively reliable when I grab them, only occasionally do I need to give a bit of a squeeze.

Agree!! This should have been a no-brainer and I often find myself in the exact same situation. ?

Mine unlocks all doors. I believe there is a setting you can change in Sync. Mine is a 22 eco. Both my trucks did all doors.

It unlocks all the doors, but you have to first open one of the two front doors to unlock the rears. I believe thon on my wife's 2015 edge you can open any of the doors if you have the fob. Seems like a step backwards. I have a Lariat, so I am not sure if the higher versions have the added ability or not.

Thought I was alone in this issue. My button rarely works on the first tap, but if I take my finger off and wait 1-2 seconds then tap the lock button on the handle again, it locks instantly.

2023 Lariat Powerboost. Motorcraft 12v battery that came with the truck was replaced with a different brand and fully charged to rule out any low voltage issues.

I'm beginning to think it's an APIM issue... My infotainment screen seems to be freezing/blacking out on startup more frequently lately, and 49 out of 50 times I start the vehicle, my alert chimes come from the instrument cluster. Very rarely do they come from the speakers like intended.

I found that you have to wait 2 or 3 seconds before pressing the button on the door handle. It also seems if you press the button too early, you have to wait about 5 seconds before trying to lock the door. Seems the truck has to realize that the doors are closed. This could be a communication time lag to the rest of the modules.

Only time it is a issue for me is when I am in a rush...lol

Can’t say I’ve ever used it. Either fob or keypad

Not on mine. Just checked unlocked truck opened back door only. No need to open front doors. Do this daily from getting stuff a store.

I generally use the keypad when exiting to lock the doors, but I do not like the little button on the passenger side. It seems finicky at times.

That is one thing Ford did right on the Ranger - any door was touch sensitive lock/unlock and it worked well.

As others have said, wait a second or two once the door is closed. I also find touching of any other part of the handle while locking can cause it not to lock.

No, we're talking about having to touch the inside of the front door handle to unlock the rear doors, not the unlock settings. The rear door handles do not have the sensors, which makes it a pain if you have your arms full and need to put stuff in the back seat first. My fob unlocks all doors but fumbling for it in a pocket is not always practical.
