Does stick-on keypad HAVE to be on the driver's door?

I was looking to buy the keypad for my '25, but was wondering if it HAS to be on the door (or in that vicinity) to work?
I want it for the reasons of being able to lock my key and phone in the vehicle, but still get in. But, I don't like the look of the keypad on the door. I was thinking to attach it to the back of the cab on the driver's-side glass or just under it. Still readily available, but not as stand-out as the door. Just wondering if it will work from that location? I'd think so...BUT, you never know.

Also...if I buy the part from Ford, can I program it myself?

Why not just add the securicode keypad that Ford used to install to the B-pillar instead of using that giant and ugly stick on version. Cost for parts is around $120-140 depending on where you shop them. The install should only take about 30-40 minutes including the coding to make it work with Forscan.

I had thought about that, but since it would be rarely used, I thought I could "hide" it better. My other thought was inside the fuel door.

To my knowledge there's not any transceiver in the door for the keypad and with it being wireless it should be able to be mounted nearly anywhere depending on the range. What you could do after coding it it test the functionality from different places to see how far the range is and where you want it to be before actually sticking it there.

Sounds good...if there's no association with the door, then it should be good-to-go for any location within range (so anywhere on the vehicle).

That was my thought on it but someone else may have more information on the stick on keypad that can confirm if this is possible before you spend the time/money on it.

I have read in other threads that some are just sticking it inside the fuel door because it’s cheaper looking than the original door mounted version on previous models. When they need it they have it but don’t have to look at it. Should work on all but powerboosts due to the locking fuel door on the hybrid

Won’t work on new 25 models with locking gas cap though.
battery wireless one is to big and bulky.

Set it up and then test it out w/o sticking it on anywhere. I have mine mounted behind the gas door on my Bronco and it fits/works perfectly (I have one for my Ranger and it's on the door and doesn't look bad at all).

If I were to get one for my F-150 (I already have the B-pillar version) I'd consider sticking it on back in the truck bed.

So try it out for range and then stick where it best works for you.

I bought both and then used a 2-day license for FDRS to program both (I have zero experience with FORSCAN so have no idea if that would work). The included directions are quite good and the FDRS process is easy. But it does require a good cable (I have a Mongoose) and a Windows laptop.

Dealer will charge you to program, but if you have a good relationship with them maybe it won't be much more than the cost of the 2-day FDRS license.

It was a fun project.

In an emergency, you can just pull the release cable for the fuel door (under the truck) and still get access with the doors locked an no alternative way in. Not convenient, but would work.

Stick it up in the fender or behind the bumper. This was what we did back in the day with a spare key.

Could epoxy some strong magnets to it and another set up in front fender above the felt liner, bumper, or somewhere else that's easyish to reach. That way it's out of sight but still accessible if needed if it won't fit in the gas door or you have a PB and accessing it with the door closed is not feasible.

The magnet idea is good...just like old-school. That would work pretty good I think.
