Does anyone else think the 10 spd transmission just plain sucks?

Have to say that the 10 speed transmissions in my 2017 and now the 2021 have been great, smooth shifting both in normal use and in towing. Had the 6 speeds in my previous F150's which were good, no complaints on those, but feel the 10 speed is better. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another F150 with the 10 speed

I have my 2021 Ltd Hybrid in the shop now to look at the transmission. Having some of the same issues as you but also it sometimes will not accelerate when turning from a stop which is very dangerous. I certainly hope that is not normal. If it is I will buy a cyber truck when they come out. My first Ford and first truck ever. 52 years old. Other than the transmission I like it a lot.
Dealership says there was something wrong with my power train module whatever that is. Waiting on a new part to replace it.

Before my hybrid drive unit was replaced, I was completely satisfied with the performance of the transmission. I'm having to put up with the learning process since I got it back earlier this week. I put close to 300 miles on it the next day but mostly interstate and steady two lane. It wasn't learning much I figured. It "lost its mind" a few times times in some traffic that day. After shutting it down and driving the next day, it was better. Today I made an HD run for an extra string of Christmas lights and all is good again.

I’m really interested in them expanding the hybrid power trains. I would love a 2.7EB hybrid.
The 2.7 would have been the mileage king of the possible Powerboost drivetrain. But Ford chose their Halo motor for their Halo F150 Hybrid.

My biggest concern is that of all the F150 motors, the 3.5 Ecoboost is THE one that would suffer the most driving it really easy. It's not a good motor for puttputting and short trips. And the Powerboost has appealed to people who never otherwise would have chosen the 3.5 Ecoboost for their truck.

I also think that the Powerboost'rs that came from previous 3.5EB F150's are less sensitive about the 10r80 transmission because they have already experienced its rough edges. As well as they are more likely to be enjoying the full 600lbs of torque on occasion, if you know what I mean. ?

It's an amazing truck. But I bet the folks that work it and regularly tow with it will have the healthier trucks out of warranty.

2021 PowerBoost Hybrid 3.5 - 10 Speed Transmission. 9400 miles on it now. Bought brand new with less than ten miles on the odo. TERRIBLE Shifts and has gotten worse. Jerks hard from First to Third - skips Second, all as widely reported. I wonder if the transmission is going to fall out the bottom. I would not buy this truck again and I won't keep it if it can't be fixed. Talked to the Dealer Service Rep and he told me that's what they all do, and discouraged me from even having them look at it. Not happy.

Have them clear all the learned data from it at minimum.

My ten speed shifts smoothly but I have the rare clunk when down shifting (lower gears only) My previous truck, Chev 2500HD did the same so I'm not overly worried. Maybe there will be a software fix for this?

You should try another dealership or auto shop because that is definitely not normal. My issues with no acceleration were blamed by the dealership on a bad power train module. At a minimum it sounds like your transmission software needs to be reset.

Lazy disservice staff would say it's perfectly normal for your truck to be possessed by demons if that were the problem.

Another dealership is definitely advised as per above.

So far I'll say that the transmission is the most disappointing thing about this truck (powerboost) for me. My truck rarely uses 2nd gear and the 1-3 shift has about a 3-4 second slip followed by a firm jerk and clunk. The can hear this same clunk when the truck decides to randomly aggressively downshift as well. Oh, the truck has tried to start in 3rd gear a few times as well. I'll ease into the accelerator and it will slam down into first with what feels like a lot of torque.

It's almost like this truck is confused about when to lock/unlock the torque converter and/or when to apply the electric motor during shifts. The more I baby it the worst the truck shifts.

It has the 8-9-10 shutter under a light load I see folks talking about as well.

I had the dealership look at it around 3k miles and they just reset the tables. The truck did ok for about 200 miles then went right back to the typical shifting issues. I am at 4k miles now and waiting for another appointment with the dealer around the first of December.

Takes about a month to get into our service center.....it's frustrating because I cringe every time this truck shifts gears. Hopefully they can figure it out.

Love the truck other than that. Averaging 23.3 MPG.

I wouldn't say the 10 speed sucks, because while test driving to decide on my purchase I drove GMCs with the same transmission, and they were smooth as silk. It's Ford's implementation that is poor, IMHO. Others I'm sure can chime in here, but I owned '97, '00 and '09 automatics, and I recall those trucks behaved similar to my '21 in that the transmissions didn't seem to actually shift to 1st until accelerating after a stop. The gear indicator in my '21 indicates 1st when I come to a stop, but there is a distinct clunk into 1st when I start to accelerate again. Then there's the clunk when skipping 2nd. It's beyond me how skipping a gear would yield better economy than a smooth transition of power between gears. My truck exhibits another clunky shift, somewhere in the 5 to 7 range, but I don't recall exactly as I'm writing this.

Having to downshift manually starting from 10th (while in D) regardless of which lower gear you start from is another head scratcher. Switching to manual is fine for longer grades here in Colorado, but it would be nice to have a better option for shorter grades. Engine braking while in electric mode needs some work as well.
So after 23 days I finally got my 2021 F150 3.5 Hybrid back from the dealership. The factory had installed an incompatible 2020 power train module(chip) which is why the transmission was so screwy. It is now awesome. I have torque and smooth shifting! They also trimmed some of the wheel well foam in the front right which was installed incorrectly and was running the tire when turned all the way to the right.
