I checked everywhere i could think in forscan for the bit to disable the air dam. DId not find it. My truck had all the modules updated manually at the dealership last week when it was in for recalls and some service

Last night i removed the rivets and took out the actuators from the air dam. They end up smaller than a cell phone. I reconnected them to the plugs and zip tied them up behind the bumper.

Had to clear all the DTCs in forscan and then drove around a bit. No DTCs and everything now seems fine. Seems some of these trucks have to use this method to properly delete the air dam.

Spoke too soon. Now with the actuators reconnected the original DTCS for loss of communication are gone. After a few ignition cycles another DTCs keeps returning and illuminating the CEL.

Anyone have experience with this code as it relates to the active air dam?

C0604- SSM 51718 2021-2023 F-150 - Active Air Dam Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C0604:00 Stored In The PCM Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit DTC C0604:00 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to firmware within the left and/or right active air dam (AAD) actuator. To correct this condition, perform normal workshop manual diagnostics and if the concern is still present, replace the right and left AAD actuators. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 501-19 Bumpers, Diagnosis and Testing, Active Air Dam (AAD). For claiming, use causal part number 17626 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standard Manual.

Seems we may be SOL as I suspected. I did not try to equip snow plow mode but saw the option. I think someone above aid that and it did not work but I may try anyway, may get differing results. Thanks for the update, I suspected a PCM update was unlikely to add this air dam entry in particular.
I've tried all the snow plow modes and anything else that seemed like it would help. No dice. Goes in tomorrow for a leaking axle seal so well see what they say about the aid dam code.

Yessir let us know how it goes. I just picked up a very lightly used 2023 5.0 XLT for another employee truck, The airdam entry was there and I have it disabled. I am going to try to see if I can take the actuators off this truck without issue and put them on the 2021 diesel to clear the codes.

My actuators are still installed as well.
They throw a code for obstacle detection and a few others.
Have not tried the forscsn code change
After reading this new info.
I may try it.
My lower part has been removed for over a year due to front hitch installation

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Road debris took out my active air damn. I removed the actual dam piece but let the actuators plugged in(one was busted). I’m trying to get rid of the error msg that pops up on the DIC everytime I drive "Active Air Dam Fault".
I went in with Forscan to the PCM ASBUILT and changed the values according to the spead sheet but Im still getting the error on the DIC and the soft code is popping back up under DTC's after its been cleared. I have re-hooked up Forscan to make sure the entry saved and its still showing as the altered entry value. So...Im at a loss.

You have to disconnect the actuators. The module can still see them.

ok, I wasn’t aware of that. Any advice on the connector clips? The red release looked like it was supposed to be push in the release the clip connector but I couldn’t get it to budge (hence why they’re still connected.)

If I remember correctly the red clip slides away from the actuator (needed a little force) then push in on the tab while pulling on the plug.

Well scratch that, success! I think... I was able to successfully write 7E0-162-02 XXXX XXXX 01XX without issue. Cleared codes, went for a drive and when I got back, no code yet for lack of an air dam so that might be the ticket.

@rugedraw and everyone else that ditched it, you might try and same and see if you get the same results with no more silent DTC.
What year F150? Wondering if this works for a 2021

Why are you guys trying to remove and disable the active shutters inside the grill?

Not the grille shutters, the electronic air dam on the front that lowers at speed for better mpg. For me, I want to disable it so that a chunk of snow/ice on the road (or that falls from another vehicle in front of me) doesn't take it out during the winter.
