superfordman have you had any recent PCM updates?
I was able to successfully write 7E0-162-02 XXXX XXXX 01XX but did a PCM update minutes before. I'm not sure if the update is what helped or coincidence. At the moment I have zero DTC's in all modules with the active air dam actuators unplugged.

I did a few weeks ago plus I have a 23 to start, so easily have all those features baked in. Since you have a 21, if your PCM hadn't been updated for a while, the software might not have even been there yet to know what that feature was.

Without looking it up I think the last PCM update I had prior to this one was close to a year ago.
I took a 30 mile round trip to the archery range today, speeds up to 60 with some stop and go. Zero codes afterwards so I’m considering this a win.

This gives me hope. I don't think I've had a PCM update since I FDRS-forced my updates last summer.

I guess I'll try this as well in the near future.

As always, thanks for the hard work, camaraderie, and willingness to use your own trucks as guinea pigs everyone! That's a big part of what makes this forum better than most!

Looked into that when I was bored over winter. The asbuilt I looked at for trucks after 21 had different numbers there. I moved on thinking that wasn't the air dam and not wanting to break PCM experimenting. Now that the spreadsheet is updated it says the different codes are for colors? Never would have expected that. ?

Good to know it works. One less of the half dozen soft codes the truck bitches about every time I take a detailed scan.

You can also disable it via socket wrench. Removing it doesn't throw a code.

Yes, already been there done that. It does constantly log a communication failure soft code every time truck is started when motors are disconnected. That is what lead many of us to search asbuilt data looking for how to stop PCM from looking for the motors.

The code can only be seen doing scan with tools reading Ford specific codes and won't turn on CEL.

Hi I have a 2021 3.0 Diesel Lariat. So probably an early 2021 build as I thinkt the diesel was phased out early on. The air dam was removed by road debris and when doing the oil change unplugged and trashed what was left of the actuators. Then filled the plugs with silicone. Code coming up now is C0604 and it has an illuminated CEL.

On mine I dont see an entry on PCM for 7E0-162-02. I didnt take a screenshot yesterday of my PCM as-built but is only coming up 2 digits not up to 162. I think the highest was 7E0-90-01 or thereabouts, any advice or am I SOL? I see the chatter about PCM updates would that help to add this feature/entry?

Getting the PCM updated definitely wouldn't hurt and might allow you access to that value, but since you have a diesel, those never came with a less air dam option like a ecoboost tremor or raptor does. So there is a slight chance you might not be able to disable it, but get it updated to start and then see what that does. Job 1 2021 for sure wouldn't have the option to disable since the less air dam trucks didn't come out until Job 2 if I recall correctly.

With CEL check those plugs. If they had water get in there could be shorting out somehow. Normally never see any light on dash for stuck air dam. People post here when air dam motors are stuck they get a CEL but the communication error does not.

I also have a 2021 Lariat Powerstroke diesel. I installed the skid plate this weekend and capped the plugs. I got a lit up CEL and the PCM code for communication with the air dam.

I dont have the listed bit entry in my pcm module via forscan either to try to disable...

Truck was in last week and had every module fully updated by Ford manually.

Seems we may be SOL as I suspected. I did not try to equip snow plow mode but saw the option. I think someone above aid that and it did not work but I may try anyway, may get differing results. Thanks for the update, I suspected a PCM update was unlikely to add this air dam entry in particular.

I also saw the snow plow mode in two places and thought about messing with it but didn't know what all it enables or disables. Didn't want to blow up the truck.

But yeah seems like the only real option is to drill the rivets on the actuators and reconnect them and zip tie up in the bumper.

Annoying the diesel's seem to be unique with this.

Second time seeing post with diesel not able to remove air dam without codes. Must be something special about those trucks.

Makes me wonder if some of the modules are leftovers from the previous gen truck because of the diesel engine. Previous gen didnt have the active air dam im aware of so just isn't there. Thinking my best bet is to break apart the actuators and reconnect and zip tie them. Sucks, but seems like it might be my only option.
