I would ask my local dealer, but Service Advisor never answers the d**** phone and typically does not call back either (online appts only).

So, my question is that does the dealer typically use the MC Synthetic Blend or is full Synthetic available? I am coming up on 10K miles (have already changed oil twice with Pennsoil Platinum and Kirkland) during break-in, but the oil life monitor is approaching oil change time, so I will go to dealer for this change so there is no warranty dispute if something happens.

I would prefer not to use Synthetic Blend, if possible, but I can’t get the question answered by the dealer service dept.

Appreciate the response of your experience. Thanks.

For clarity, I plan to move to 5K OCI after the 10K oil change. I just change at 3K -3500 during break-in miles.

Why would you have warranty concerns if you have receipts and record them in your Ford Service database?

Both the web and FordPass provides a method to upload your receipt and date and service type. (oil change)

Ford specifies synthetic blend so if you don't tell them otherwise your Ford dealer's service department is going to use the blend.

I have receipts of purchase products for oil and filter, except the Kirkland Oil, which I buy in bulk for multiple vehicles (self oil change). Though I did take a picture of the 5W30 bottle and uploaded with oil filter receipt picture, which is very difficult to read as the Walmart receipt printer sucks.

I figured 6 oil changes at the dealer over the 60K warranty period is no big deal and worth the effort to save a potential crap ton of hassle.

I figured. I hope they have synthetic option. Probably have to drive there to figure it out. Just sucks that people don’t seem to want to work and hide behind a computer post COVID.

I requested full synthetic at my recent dealer performed oil change.

$121 is about right. I paid $126 at JLube for Pennzoil Platinum, including my own filter ($10, Fram TG10575).

If this dealer continues to be difficult and I have to wait a long time, I guess I will just do JLube with my own filter.

thanks for the data

I know, that is why I started doing them, but to have “official” documentation from a service facility every 10K (OCI frequency) is worth the cost to alleviate any potential warranty issues/hassles if one arises.

You can also just buy the oil you want and hand it to the dealer telling him that's what you want them to put in.

You think? I doubt a Ford dealer would put anything other than their oil.

I'm pretty sure the going labor rate at every local dealer by me is >$100/hr, probably $120+. Even a quick 30 min oil change, after labor, materials, and taxes is going to easily be $100 or more.

I've never heard of a warranty claim rejection due to self service oil changes. Not saying it hasn't happened, but it seems to be more so internet forum fears than reality.
