So tonight when I went to start my truck it wouldn’t start. I called roadside assistance and they jump started my truck and now it turns on but door locks won’t work. I wonder if anyone else has had these issues. I’m going to Ford first thing on Monday morning
Just happened to me today. Truck has been sitting in the garage for over a week with no fob in it. Went out to start it today and battery was dead. So dead, in fact, I couldn’t even get it to hold a charge with a charger and it absolutely won’t start. Called Roadside and they are on their way to pick it up. There may be 500 miles on the odometer.

Is yours a pre-production as well?

Same thing happened to me. Sat for four days, went to unlock my truck, battery was completely dead. Had to call RA.
At the time I might have had 400 on the ODO.

My trucks build date was 12/8. I hope getting a new battery solves the issues for us.

Sounds the same. The tow truck driver said the service writer at the dealer said this was the second one this week with the exact same issue. I’ll update when I get some info on Monday.

I’m not positive. I think it probably is. Most of these first trucks were and were sitting in a yard waiting for final quality and software updates once they got enough miles on the pilots.

I think I’m going to charge my battery after delivery. It will probably stop these kinds of problems if it’s just a weak battery.

That’s a sound idea. After my dead battery incident, I charged my battery overnight. After almost a month, I haven’t had an issue; however, my start/stop hasn’t been working lately and I get the “vehicle is charging” message. It’s also the dead of winter with temps in the low teens and single digits. That doesn’t help.

My 2018 auto stop/start does not work in the winter when it’s cold but always works in spring and summer. Maybe it’s because of extra draw on the battery using heated seats and heated steering wheel.

I wish my auto stop/start would stop working but I have to disable it each drive. With my battery issues, I'm afraid the truck won't restart at a stop light.

I'm still not convinced this is a battery issue and I'm closely monitoring the "state of charge" each day with my tester. Both mine and the dealer's tester indicated that the original battery's health was 100%. So a parasitic draw somewhere in the truck hasn't been ruled out.

I ran a few experiments and found around a 600mA (7.2W) steady state power consumption. Perhaps this is acceptable with all the electronics but I doubt it could be sustained over a long period of storage time.

I'll keep monitoring the situation.

The auto/start stop will not function if the system knows that the battery is not up to the task. You can see the message on the instrument cluster that reads “vehicle is charging”. Trust me, I am all too familiar with this problem. My 2018 did this most of the time and my 2021 is doing it right now.

I am following your problem closely and taking notes of your findings. I’m not convinced, like you, that this is a battery issue.

From the manual:

The system does not stop the engine if:
  • The driver door is open.
  • Your vehicle is at high altitude.
  • The heated windshield is on.
  • The engine is warming up.
  • The outside temperature is too low or too high.
  • The battery charge is low.
  • The battery temperature is outside the optimal operating range.
  • The engine is required to run to maintain interior climate and reduce fogging.

Looking for a common thread to a source of drain. Have other folks with dead batteries: 1)Connected to FordPass? 2)Connect their trucks wifi to your home network?

Yes to both.
