Yeah, everyone I know that doesn't want CCD, just adds FX4 because that deletes it. You still have 4x4, but without the FX4 package (which is different shocks, you get thin skid plates, and it sits higher). I have never been impressed with FX4 (don't hate it either), but I typically have gotten it to avoid CCD. Now I have driven my CCD truck 20k miles. It does ride smooth. I can see the appeal. If I were to choose again, I would take FX4 because the availability of suspension mods for the CCD is very limited. If you are fine with a simple level, CCD should work nice for you.
This truck has the stickers on the side and the skid plates, so I know it’s an FX4, and I know it has scales because the RAS through that system out of wack lol

You can get scales without CCD, if I'm not mistaken. Or you could.
But you get scales automatically if you get CCD.

The difference is the rear height sensors.
CCD includes enclosed height sensors inside the rear shock cover/shell.
But non-CCD scales have the exposed lever-type height sensors on the rear. Very much like the height sensors on the front upper control arm.

for another data point:

my 2024 king ranch EcoBoost has CCD shocks (visually confirmed) but does not have scales/smart hitch. Optional equipment list for my truck lists an item "less onboard scale/smart hitch"

When I go into the simple menu for VDM module, my Payload weight values for KG and LB are both 0 by default. Changing those values does not appear to have any noticeable impact on CCD dampening rates.

I would extrapolate that my lack of scales/smat hitch is responsible for those numbers not being present.

I am 100% certain my CCD is functional because I can clearly feel the difference between Sport and Normal drive modes.

I need to try SnakeBitten's As-Built hex changes and will report back.

Can you take a picture of your rear shock absorber?

I know you could get scales without CCD because Ford would mount the "external" height sensor on the rear axle, so it didn't require the CCD shock with the built-in height sensor.

I didn't think you would get CCD without scales being thrown in since the hardware was present anyway, at that point.

I have a 2022 lariat 502a with ccd, but not scales. They were separate options when I ordered.

Interesting.
Definitely have both harnesses and ALL the hardware necessary for scales.

I haven't a clue what it would take to get scales, but I don't think it would require a single Motorcraft part#.

Having said that, scales are more novelty than I expected them to be.

That's interesting! My 502a Lariat has CCD without scales and I questioned why my payload was listed as 0 in the simple VDM menu too. I will say, I absolutely noticed a difference when I plugged in my stock values there or increased them beyond my stock values.

There is some good additional discussion on this here: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/2022-ccd-shocks-ride-like-crap.12529/post-587932

I wouldn't lose any sleep over not having them that's for sure.

From what I've read, the tail lights are different for scales. I asked around on here about a forscan change to enable them thinking that I had all the hardware.
