I would absolutely push for a new transmission. Truck is too new for a rebuild.Significant metal chunks in pan - no movement.
Ford Engineering is asking the dealer to tear it down. The dealership is pushing for a brand new 10speed. Anyone know who I contact to help the dealer with this request?

Dave - absolutely no indication that this was going to happen. Trans was always quiet and never had harsh shifting like others have experienced with the 10sp. Hopefully your transmission doesn't look like mine on the inside. BTW: Ford just got back to the dealer and told them to replace the pump and filter and "see how that goes".Ford customer care frequents this site. Aside from that, I would recommend speaking with the GM and see what avenues he offers.
I went through something similar in 2014. I had a 2013 F150 and at 15K the trans was throwing all sorts of codes and went in limp mode. At the time, the molded lead frame issue was getting to be known. The dealer decided to add a foam gasket to the connectors and gave it back to me. Within 1 day it started shifting all sorts of hard and crazy. I kept telling the dealer and they said to keep driving it. I did until it finally ate itself and got towed in. I pushed for a new trans but they said their hands were tied and had to tear it down and show the engineers. After that, they would either disposition a new trans or rebuild. After a month of nothing I got frustrated and traded it for a Tundra of all things from their sister lot. After 6 months I sold the Tundra. The new owner of the F150 later called me and asked why I traded. They had replaced the trans after a few months.
Hopefully- your situation goes better.
And curious- did yours make awful sounds on cold start up? My 21 sounds like a blender is living in the transmission until it warms up. Sounds like a cavitating pump.
The ten speed automatic transmission is basically the same transmissions that are in the GM trucks. It was suppossedly a joint venture with Gm and FORD from what i understandFord customer care frequents this site. Thomas, Sorry to hear, that's a bummer. FWIW, granted a totally different transmission, but my '05' King Ranch's tranny destroyed itself at almost exactly 3 mos. from date of purchase & 5000 miles, 90% of which were purely Hwy speed commutes to & from my office, and the remaining typical city driving. No notice that anything was amiss - backed the 25' out of my driveway to head into work, put in drive and after about 50 yards of forward movement at no more than 20mph the tranny suddenly became unresponsive and the truck came to halt with a grinding gear noise - similar to you the pan was full of metal chunks and burned up fluid. Point being that Ford stepped up to plate with no issues and put a whole new transmission in the truck. You should not only demand this - but I would expect they'll do it anyways. As a result of the premature failure and dealer swap as opposed to factory work I also requested they kick in a full extended warranty - Dealer ran it up to the Ford corporate rep and it got approved with no pushback. I'd definitely request they provide that for you - or reimburse if you've already paid for extended.
As a quick aside - still have that truck, 282K miles,, never had a single penny in engine repair costs (warranty or otherwise) but I am on transmission #4 - the Ford replacement tranny died around 140K miles, and then the reman unit I replaced that with died after it had about 100K miles. Hard to tell if it's just due to a poor design, or something inherently askew with this truck, I've had multiple independent transmission folks tell that it's not terribly unusual for that model. On the one hand it's probably unacceptable to be on #4, but given I've never suffered a single other repair expense after almost 17 years at 282K miles I can't really complain about the total cost of ownership.
