Tagging them was good, but send them a message, too. I'm sure they'd be willing to help.
Looks like these 2 guys haven't been on here for awhile.
Looks like I'll be buying one yself and then I could do the loan program for Canadians since I am frequently on here

If you messaged them directly, then maybe so. Sucks, but if you get it, lmk and I'll add you to the OP.

Add my name to your list please Javier. In the meantime, I've got a lot of instructional reading to do....

@rugedraw , I'm looking for some advice.

I am currently on the wait list to borrow the Mongoose cable. As I patiently wait, I continue to read up on FDRS, as well as try to make notes as I learn from other reader's FDRS experiences. Based on what I am learning, I am considering taking my name off of the cable loaner list and buy one instead. As I understand it (and my understanding may be incorrect), is that the Mongoose cable is used to initialize the FDRS update process, but some updates are handled through the use of a USB thumbdrive. Some of the updates can take several weeks to install. When the update is successfully completed, it opens up more module updates, requiring the use of the Mongoose cable again. Rinse, repeat. This implies that someone may need to hang on to the Mongoose cable for many weeks to go through all of the updates, keeping the cable out of circulation. Is my understanding correct? Further, when fully completed, it is conceivable that one may need the cable again in another year or two to get the latest module features. If so, it seems to me that I might be better served getting my own Mongoose cable. I am very interested in your thoughts. Thanks.

The only situation that requires the USB to be left in for weeks is not applicable to you. That will not be part of your update process. You'll be able to do all available updates back-to-back.

Once you are fully up to date, the OTA process will do a decent job of keeping you up to date, but with a Mongoose, if something new comes out that you want, you can install it right away. If your truck develops a problem that requires FDRS to fix in the future, you can do it yourself and not depend on the dealer. I think anyone that owns one or more of these vehicles and plans to keep it long term would benefit from having a Mongoose in their toolbox, but that's just me.

Im guessing this one sold by OPUS IV will work, or do you suggest another vendor? https://www.amazon.com/Mongoose-Plus-J2534-Vehicle-Interface-Cable/dp/B097NHQ7ZW?th=1

Thank you, Javier - that was VERY helpful and beneficial. I will leave my name on the list. ?
