Just had the first hard rain since I got my 2021 and have a strong mildew smell in the truck. I guess I have a leak somewhere. I checked the cowl drain holes and they appear clear. I felt the carpet around all the doors and under the dash and didn't feel anything wet.

Where are the common spots for water leaks?

Check your cabin filter.

Check behind rear seat.

Pull fuse panel cover in passenger footwell and inspect the area for water.

Also pretty common for many to have a musty smell at start up which goes away within a minute or so of the HVAC system cycling. I do smell that at start up when it’s more humid out. Not sure if that’s your experience or more constant smell.

I had not noticed the smell at all until it rained and it smells like that before starting, just opening the door.

if you turn your AC off and have the recirc turned off, you will not get that smell……as long as you don’t have an active water leak

That’s likely not a good sign. Firewall and front carpet both sides is also worth looking at in case front windshield has a leak that’s trickling down. Ensure your AC drain on the passenger exterior of firewall is draining. Some have had them get blocked feeding back into the passenger footwell under the carpet. You might also pull up the door sills and see if the wire channels are wet.

just purchased a 2024 F150 that has been in the shop for 3.5 weeks total but keep getting water in the passenger side floorboard. Can't figure out if it is the AC leaking or the cab leaking. Dealer first changed seals out on the AC drain and applied some foil tape over the drain line, then said they found a crack in the evaporator housing and had the dash out last time it was in the shop, got it back and the floor mat is still wet. Anyone else having this issue?

Search on forum about that... drainage under plastic cooling plugged...it is right in the corner where cross piece meets fender. There is a thread about this. Is your cabin air filter wet...this caused that.
