I’m sorry, maybe you mentioned it later or I missed it but I didn’t see the reason for the stop in the incident? Did he ever tell you why he stopped you?Thank you for the reply, and I appreciate your opinion. JustSomeGuy
My issue with the officers reasoning for pulling me over was unjustified in my eye. After we both gave our statement of the event, the judge asked me if I had the ticket signed off for window tint or video evidence of the interaction. I responded with no. She then declared me guilty and ordered me to pay the window tint citation. (I guess unlawful stop didn't apply in my case). At the end of the day, it's my word against his. I paid the window tint ticket and moved on with my life. I see it as a small donation towards the city.
Moving forward, my truck is now equipped with cameras for those "just in case" moments. I still drive every day down the road I was pulled over and have witness the same officer a handful of times. Fortunately, he has not attempted to give me a hard time.
Obviously it’s very possible that he focused on you because he didn’t like being honked at, but did he tell you it was for XYZ?
For what it’s worth, you can be upset for him targeting you but as long as he has a legal reason for the stop there isn’t anything illegal with stopping you. Also, the reason for the stop doesn’t have to be the only thing he does, and doesn’t have to be what he cites you for. I will say, if you are stopped and the length of the stop is extended beyond the original reason for the stop there has to be reasonable suspicion to extend the stop.
Again, not defending the cop, I just find the more people understand stuff like this the less infuriating it can be. Some cops genuinely are out to help others :/
Sorry you had to deal with an Ahole
