Thank you for the reply, and I appreciate your opinion. JustSomeGuy

My issue with the officers reasoning for pulling me over was unjustified in my eye. After we both gave our statement of the event, the judge asked me if I had the ticket signed off for window tint or video evidence of the interaction. I responded with no. She then declared me guilty and ordered me to pay the window tint citation. (I guess unlawful stop didn't apply in my case). At the end of the day, it's my word against his. I paid the window tint ticket and moved on with my life. I see it as a small donation towards the city.

Moving forward, my truck is now equipped with cameras for those "just in case" moments. I still drive every day down the road I was pulled over and have witness the same officer a handful of times. Fortunately, he has not attempted to give me a hard time.
I’m sorry, maybe you mentioned it later or I missed it but I didn’t see the reason for the stop in the incident? Did he ever tell you why he stopped you?

Obviously it’s very possible that he focused on you because he didn’t like being honked at, but did he tell you it was for XYZ?

For what it’s worth, you can be upset for him targeting you but as long as he has a legal reason for the stop there isn’t anything illegal with stopping you. Also, the reason for the stop doesn’t have to be the only thing he does, and doesn’t have to be what he cites you for. I will say, if you are stopped and the length of the stop is extended beyond the original reason for the stop there has to be reasonable suspicion to extend the stop.

Again, not defending the cop, I just find the more people understand stuff like this the less infuriating it can be. Some cops genuinely are out to help others :/

Sorry you had to deal with an Ahole

The officer's "reason" for pulling me over was due to my truck not having the permanent plates installed. At the time of the stop, the truck was 2 weeks old and it had the temporary plates installed.

I explained to him the truck was 2 weeks old and that the permanent plates had not arrived. I showed him on my phone the law regarding the temporary plates, which it states the temporary plates are good for 90 days. (I guess he didn't like that either).

Between honking at him for cutting me off, and then informing him on the plate law, he was just out to get me for something to feel in superior. It's all good, no hard feelings.

The only thing I can think of is when a cop runs a plate it tells you when the permanent plate is assigned and at that point there is probable cause for a traffic stop. It’s weak and frankly the cop sounds like a dork. My wife just got a fix it ticket in my car the other day for something just as stupid…

Sorry he was the way he was and glad you’ve got a good attitude about it because frankly that’s the best thing you can do. Nice chatting with you btw-
