So I’ve tried to search for anyone who has had the same issue with no luck. Today as I was leaving work I pull to the red light and stop. After a few seconds I feel a fairly substantial clunk from underneath(unsure if center or more rearward). My foot was on the brake and it didn’t try to lunge forward just a clunk. This is the second time it’s happened in 2 weeks. I’ve only owned the truck a month. 2022 xlt supercrew 4x4 5.0. Any ideas? I still have factory warranty (only 44k miles now) and also have an extended warranty. I’ve already taken it to dealer once for not so smooth shifts.

Is it a clunk right when you take off? My 2022 transmission has a mind of its own. Somedays smooth as butter but it always lets me know it’s there randomly with a hard shift down.😁

Could be but I do know that the splined slip yoke will bind and prevent it from slipping as the suspension jounces and lifts during braking and this likely puts stress on the output shaft of the transmission. If you attempt the repair yourself I know you need to be very careful to index the transmission so you put it back together exactly as it was and don't ever grease the spline which can cause a similar condition with hydrolock from too much grease getting trapped at the end of the slip yoke. You also need to pay attention to any debris that may get caught at the mating surfaces of the U-joint as that can cause high frequency vibrations if anything gets caught in there, even very small stuff.

I had a similar issue and the dealership made adjustments or something to the drivetrain to correct it. It may have been the driveshaft or yoke, I'll have to see if I can find paperwork on it.

I'm not sure if I had multiple issues at the time because I was also getting transmission fault codes when driving, but I haven't had that particular issue while stopped since they made their adjustments. Mine felt like I was getting rear ended by someone behind me. Perhaps you're having a similar issue but currently isn't as severe as mine was at the time.

Mine had a bad clunk when putting into D or R, that later on worsened and began happening when applying the brakes. Turned out to be a failing rear end. The dealer ended up replacing all the rear axle internals. About a year later it started doing it again when taking off from a stop so I pulled the driveshaft and discovered the slip yoke was completely dry. Lubed it up with Ford's blue PTFE grease and hasn't caused an issue since.

I'd start with lubricating the slip yoke and see if that fixes the issue seeing it's relatively easy and a common problem with Fords since they are apparently not lubricating it from the factory given the number of people who have reported there not being any grease present when inspected.

Sounds like it’s down shifting in the first after you stop. Your clunk might actually be from your driveshaft slippery oak. You might wanna service that. It might take care of the issue.

Slip Yoke needs greased ford is bad about that. My 2018 did it at 40000 miles, my son's 2020 did it at 39000 miles all trucks were FX4
