In Austin we are months away from appropriate test conditions... and it has been months since I was playing with having HVAC heat off.. But I am pretty sure with outside temps in the 40s and coolant around 60 (ICE ran for about a mile to get to a my downhill section) I had the ICE shut down and HV was charging. With the HVAC off and outside temps >~55°F, the engine will shut down and go into electric only after you get over a coolant temp of ~100-110°F. If outside temp gets lower, 120°F is the cutoff. With HVAC on, if heat is requested, coolant temp needs to be at 140°F before you can go to electric only, and you can get down to 120-130°F before the engine kicks back on.
Since there seems to be a lot of parameters that influence electric only any suggestions as to what parameters to monitor as we try to peel this hybrid PCM onion besides outside temp and coolant temp? I will setup and watch for them as well.. in some months ahead
