I watch for 5s and 0s in the right spot.
5,10,15,20,25,30k etc.
I usually get to the dealer within 15 miles of my due mileage.

There are many videos of ford techs showing bossted engines that have issues and usually from lack of oil changes, even though some of them have followed Ford OLM.
Doubtful on the last part. I know someone that ran two vehicles completely out of oil by never changing it. Oil monitor isn't doing a thing for those kind of people. Those are the abused engines that get made an example of on the internet like it is all of them.

IMO, 10k oil changes help Ford and others alike to show low cost of ownership on a spread sheet. For me, videos on YT from Engine techs, Oil experts etc that show the downsides and possible issues caused of going with long OCI or lack of maintenance along with reading the back and forth on this topic on BITOG helped with my conclusion to have shorter OCI (especially with my Ford Performance Whipple f150 since its not from the factory that way). We live in a world of plan obsolescence, vehicles are no different IMO. Oil changes are cheap relative to changing cam phasers etc. Just another food for thought, If you think Ford did everything it can on the IOLM to monitor the condition of the oil, all I have to say is, how many recalls has Ford done in the past several years? My point is, they try their best (or I hope they did) but many things still get missed in design/testing and it causes them grief. Doing an oil change "early" is cheap insurance. :)

I change it on the 5s. Easy to remember whether I get a sticker on the window or not. And with my local quick lanes $30 happy hour works deal, its cheap insurance.

I find it interesting how dependent we've become on technology. I bought my first car in 1969 and started then to do oil changes every 5,000 miles. No intention to denigrate, but sometimes we make simple things more complicated than we have to.

It’s just a matter of convince between several cars of family members and motorcycles and all the other oil using things

I’m sure I change mine more often than I need to but when Canadian Tire puts their M1 EP on sale it makes for a cheap oil change combined with a Motorcraft filter. I figure I can do a lot of oil changes for what it would cost for the dealer to have to wrench on the engine even once.

Ford should really have a software option for the owner to be able to adjust the Oli Life Monitor sensitivity. As the owner dials it up and down show the predicted mileage for normal, heavy, and severe. They could limit how far the owner can adjust it, if they must. That would be really handy.

Maybe someone will find a way to do it in forscan.

I just purchased a '22 Lariat with the 3.5. I was looking through the menu in the truck and the Ford app to try to set up a 5k reminder and couldn't see how to set a custom reminder. I set up a custom reminder in my wife's Mazda CX5 turbo with no problem but with Ford, it seems to be a problem. When I texted the dealership they told me that it's already set up for 5k intervals but my oil life monitor shows 7300 miles left on the oil after putting nearly 1000 miles on it. C'mon, seems like a software update could change this oversight...

Trip Meter 1 = Trip Meter
Trip Meter 2 = Oil Change Mileage Tracker

Works like a treat.

If the mileage divide by 8000 km (5000 miles) evenly - time to change oil
