My warranty expired on Saturday 08 June. I had a CEL pop at around 7PM. (Great timing) Took a picture with another phone in the picture with date and time displayed then made an appt on line with my nearest dealer for a Monday afternoon drop off. Ford denies the claim because the vehicle was not at the dealer on that date even though they were closed along with their customer service phone. Do I have any recourse ? I asked the Ford customer service rep if they felt I was trying to be deceitful and they could not answer. They needed more proof since they would not accept the photo. Repair is approx $600.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like it.

What's the issue? You may get better mileage going to an independent shop.

I'm sure you're SOL, but do you have the Ford Pass app? My app receives a timestamped message when it gets a check engine light. Maybe they would accept that more than a picture on your phone but my guess is that since you're not at the dealership before it expires then they won't cover it.

Ouch, worst timing for that.

I pulled my truck into dealer to change brake fluid because I didn't have time to mess with it myself on last day of ESP. Snapped pic of dash as I always do when I get out of truck at dealer. Really didn't expect anything to come out of it other than the planned cost of brake fluid change.
They called me few hours later. "Truck full of codes and engine light is on."
Well, it wasn't when I parked it.
Needed all four of the O2 sensors replaced and brake caliper and rubber brake hose.
ESP covered 100% of all that except the brake hose because all rubber parts are considered wear items not under any warranty.

Given that you were not at the dealer at the time it could be difficult to get coverage. I agree with above see if FordPass logged CEL on last day of warranty. It should be online where Ford and dealer can see it if truck reported it. There have been few posts on forums of Ford covering shortly after warranty but it is rare. You'll have to argue about it but in the meantime likely be stuck paying for it yourself. If you can get the dealer on your side they can see the CEL timestamp and maybe help your case if you are lucky.

Scenario sounds nearly identical to mine. Left my truck at an airport parking lot for 8 days. Came back and almost exactly as it ticked over 60000km (I wasn't even out of the lot yet) got a trailer break module fault. I don't want to sound suspicious but it sounds suspicious. You're smarter than me taking your photos though.

Fixed as a "courtesy" since the vehicle was not in the dealers possession at warranty expiration. I just nodded and took it home.

See, the dealer did the right thing, good for them!
