2023 F150 Powerboost 26k miles and another problem surfaces. Running rough and hard shift. Sometimes shut off and then runs fine. First code was catalytic converter. Finally had a code for turbo wastegate could be stuck closed. Traveling with camper in tow and am now sitting at the 3rd Ford dealer service to see if this code leads to a solution. I checked both wastegate arms and they don’t seem to be stuck. Coupled with my other issues I’m ready to go lemon law on this F’ing Ford.

My 2022 powerboost platinum had the same wastegate stuck closed DTC several time but the check engine light for that would normally go off after 24 hours. So first couple warranty visits they didn't do anything. Finally they said next time it happens bring it in and leave vehicle running and just call and come in and we will hook they computer up and gather necessary info.

Next day it happened and brought it to them with check engine light on and vehicle running. They hooked up and downloaded info.... ended up being the waste actuator needed to be replaced. only problem is that they couldn't get parts like seal and gaskets to just replace actuator. could only get gaskets & seals if the entire turbo assembly is replaced. Ford service engineer said if that they only was to get those parts then they would approve replacing entire turbo assembly.

After turbo was replaced the engine ran much smoother and I have not had that DTC happen since replacement. All warranty work

Keep in mind, if wastegate is stuck closed then there could be excessive pressure & heat due to wastegate not opening and dumping excessive manifold pressure... which leads to overboost condition

Good to hear they found the issue for you. I just can’t believe these parts are failing at low mileage. Frustrated with Ford reliability.

I have owned 5 ecoboost f150s with 100k, 75k 60k 60k and 35k miles and this powerboost.... never had an issue with a wastewater actuator until now.....

Update: dealer pulled codes and found misfire codes for 3 and 4 cylinders and random misfires with a couple indicating circuit/open so they are digging into potential wire issues or fuel injector issues. The 3 and 4 fuel injectors were replaced several months ago under warranty so seems like it’s a recurring issue or didn’t get fixed properly the first time.

We have a 2022 Ford F150 Platinum PB, on our way to see our daughter in Wyoming from Florida. Not 2 hours into our trip and we receive another Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate "B" Stuck Closed. We had this happen in December, and ultimately had the actuator replaced in January (while travelling in Canada over Christmas), then the error reoccured a month ago and a few weeks ago, so they took it in for a few days and replaced the same part, where we live in Florida. Now today, one week post replacement, 2 hours into our 1700 mile journey to Wyoming, pulling our camper, we get an Adaptive Cruise error, with Ford sending a message of Powertrain Malfunction, which the engine code reader showed as P2ABA, then when we cleared that, we get the P25B6 Wastegate B stuck closed message. We also so some threads about fuses, so we checked those, and sure enough many of the ones in the engine were loosely seated, so we tightened those to no avail. The truck is a little sluggish when trying to accelerate, but no other noticeable differences. We are not willing to risk driving 1700 miles with a camper to the middle of nowhere, and through the mountains. Heading back home now, trip on hold. Lemon law should apply now that it's been more than 3 times, we'll see.

I never did post the final resolution. Dealer replaced 3 and 4 injectors and either a wiring harness or wire related to those injectors (they didn’t provide clarity on that). The wastegate stuck closed can be from unrelated power issue such as injectors. My truck has run fine since. We did have to camp out near dealer away from home for 10 days and missed Easter at home but it appears the issue is resolved now (5k miles since repairs).

Thanks for the update. We just dropped ours off at our dealer, they plan to replace entire turbo assembly, not just the actuator. The part is only available in Memphis or Detroit, and even as a rush order we probably won't see it fixed until Monday or Tuesday, since service doesn't work on Sat. & Suns for more than just oil changes. Really throws a wrench into our holiday plans, delaying and shortening our trip by 6+ days. We might have to fly out without the camper. Either option so disappointing. Very upset about all of these issues on our Platinum F150.

They replaced the entire turbo assembly on my truck and I have not had the wastegate stuck closed DTC since then, which was roughly 6-7 months ago. It seems like the when the entire turbo assembly is replaced, the problem does not occur again. I am wondering if there is some misalignment or binding that cause the wastegate to get stuck closed. Or a quality control issue with some parts in the assembly.

It is also quite the coincidence that my truck is 2022 platinum powerboost and my wastegate stuck closed was also on the "B" side

Interesting that you have the same vehicle and (had the same) problem. Now if only we could get them to work the weekend to replace it, so that we can save our vacation.

Sorry to hear about your F150 hybrid issues. Ford and the dealer should go the extra mile considering this is now in lemon law territory.
