Does anyone have any suggestions for a catback for these trucks with the 2.7? I'm looking at the mbrp dual exit currently but wanted to hear what else you guys were running as I know making a v6 sound good is challenging.

Oh boy.
You are going to get everyone telling you not to do it, it sounds like crap etc. They're right, it will sound like crap. No exhaust will change that. If that matters to you, leave it stock or do something mild like a resonator delete.

If you're like me and like your truck to make noise good or bad, then spend some time on YouTube and see what you can deal with.
Noise levels are subjective, what I think is loud at 45 would be mild to my 20 year old self. That being said here's my experience

So, I had the Banks exhaust on my previous trucks. It kept the factory resonator and replaced everything after. This was pretty mild and you didn't hear much inside the cab. They dont offer one for the 14th gen yet or I would have gotten it again

My current truck I have the Borla Sport. It was way too loud, for me. I had a 18" magnaflow in the garage from a previous project so I put that on. Much better. Basically I made my own Borla Touring, maybe a tad louder. To me, it's perfect. If you go on Borla's website they have sound clips. They do a very good job capturing how it sounds.

MBRP tend to be loud dont they? If so, might not be something you'd be happy with. Only you can decide

Couple other notes.
Its your truck, do what you want not what someone on the internet says you should do
There is no magic muffler to make an eco boost sound better, but..
The more muffler/resonator the better.
Having owned both 3.5 and 2.7, they sound pretty much the same. So if you've heard a Raptor, that's what you're going to be sounding like
These trucks sound fine until you hit 2,000 rpms then it sounds like a dying animal. the 10 speed doesn't help matters as it keeps you right in that rpm band.
So keep your stock exhaust, most people end up going back.

Good luck

I had the Corsa db+ on a '14 3.5 with a resonator delete. Drone free but it had a nice bark and slight turbo whistle to it IMO, I really liked it. I had a co-worker say it sounded similar to his 7.3 PS 🤷🏻‍♂️. I have a Corsa on my '21 5.0 which I love too.

I know SPD had a turbo whistle package not sure if they have/planned anything for the 14th gen.

I've been looking at corsa and AWE. They both seem to sound the same on these ecoboost engines. Spd is currently working on a setup with a trombone equalizer pipe that actually sounds pretty good and gives it a race sound. Problem with that one is it'll probably cost over $3k.

I went with the Roush performance cat back on my 3.5. Sounds good but not overly loud. Step on it it sounds good.

MBRP if you love annoying drone, I had it on a regular cab and it sucked. Look for something else maybe that corsa will do the trick like others suggested. Also had a borla custom welded, no drone and tame, liked that

Rather than start a new thread - Looking to give my 2.7 a little more sound, as I can barely hear it when I remote start the truck. I am not trying to have it sound like a race truck, just some audible exhaust note that will not cause any codes.

Thoughts?

I'd say the Dynomax syper turbo muffler is deffintely worth a look. I ran one of these on my 2020 Ranger and ni issues. Much better flow than the stock muffler, is just a little louder on cold startup so you can hear it inside. It's a little deep and throaty when in a parking garage or on the throttle but no drone or anything annoying like that at freeway speeds. It even passed the wife didn't hate the noise it made test.

Delete the resonator or run a Spintech muffler in place of the stock muffler.
