Buying an extended Warranty

I have a 2021 Lariat with 44,000 on it. Out of factory warranty and worried about potential issues that may arise the next 4 years of ownership. Never was offered a warranty at purchase as I did it online. I've shopped for warranties at my local dealer and also Granger. The online tool doesn't quote properly since I'm out of factory warranty. Also the truck requires an inspection. Local dealer quoted me but only up to 75,000 total miles (4 yr). Granger quoted me a warranty (4 yr) that starts at my current mileage for 60,000 which will bring me to ~104,000. Just wasn't sure the difference between the two and why local dealer couldn't provide coverage beyond 75,000 total miles. Both were Premiumcare as far as I know with $100 deductible. Granger was substantially cheaper just not sure how to navigate the inspection process. Appreciate any additional information folks may have.

Granger is probably the cheapest but never done an inspection to get warranty like that. I believe the form let's you slide out to 41k before you need an inspection.

Ask Granger how that works if they need to do the inspection or if any dealer can do it and still buy from Granger.

Yeah check them all. Granger will still be best price.

They're all within $50 of each other. Just depends who you want to go with. Zeigler's been around a lot longer.

I used Ziegler for my 2011 and Granger for my 2021. Same warranty whoever you go to. I'm curious how OP will get it done after the normal sign up period.

"As far as I know" tells us you are making assumptions - DON'T DO THAT!

Granger is straight-shooting for sure but if you have ANY question you need to ask them and they'll give you a straight answer. I'd be curious to know if this is the exact same "PremiumCare" as is offered for vehicles still in warranty / under 36k miles, and if not, how is it different. Ask them point blank about any inspection requirement and how to fulfill that.

As for a local dealer you are comparing ..... personally, I'd ask to see a copy of the contract they are offering and take the time to read it carefully, twice. Remember, nothing any selling dealer says counts for 'boo' - it's the written contract that rules.

I may be wrong (and hope I am) but I suspect these contracts for out-of-warranty vehicles are not "PremiumCare" which covers everything with listed exceptions; I suspect these contracts cover only a defined list of included items (like "ExtraCare"), which is hugely different. All of these are described in the contract I liked above but the one you are offered for your 41k miles truck may be different from that

Any dealer can do the inspection, they just charge for it so adds to the cost. Just wasn't sure the difference in a "new" warranty vs "used" warranty which is what Granger was selling me. Local dealer didn't even offer that option. I told him duration wasn't important just miles as I drive a lot so anyway he could cover me to 100k and best he offered was 75k. I'll let everyone know how it goes with Granger and having local dealer inspect.

It's a box on the ESP application that says used.

I don't think it changes anything from a practical standpoint. Pick your term and your deductible.

Fact is, there's very few (if any) of us here with actual experience buying a Ford ESP for an out-of-warranty vehicle.

Ask Granger; ask 'em for a sample of the contract they are offering and compare it to the one I linked above.

IF the coverage is different there's probably nothing you can do about it, but at least you'll avoid surprises.

Unless something changed in the last several years, yes. OP should still confirm that to still be the case since covid changed a lot of things.

Bought a used Premium ESP from Zeigler with inspection from my local dealer for my 2017. Exact same warranty as the Premium ESP I bought new for my 2021, just different price and lengths available. I happened to choose 125k for both. It looks like used may have been reduced to 75k since.
