Have you actually had an issue with your wiper motor or are you just afraid it won't work when it's raining?
I had a recall for the Takata airbag injectors with my last pickup truck and I was able to disable the one on the passenger side with my ignition key. If I was in an accident and the airbag discharged and sent shrapnel throughout the cab it could be deadly.

If my brakes failed without warning or a wheel came loose while driving on the freeway it could end with fatal results for me and for others on the road. When there have been recalls for tires where the bead could break and the tire explode and cars like the Ford Explorers would roll over at high speed, the smart person would change them out at the first opportunity.

If the wiper motor fails, which happens without any warning whatsoever, I would not be able to see the road in front of the truck and could easily have a deadly accident. I avoided driving in any amount of rain until I could get the wiper motor replaced which I was able to do last week.

After 18 months of ownership I only drove the truck less than 2800 miles. Safety is very important to me with respect to any vehicle I use. I sold an otherwise excellent truck to get a new one with driver and passenger side airbags.

So...no? You want a buyback because your wiper motor could fail and you're afraid to drive your truck in case it fails and you need it. You have no reason to think it will, outside the recall.

Dude, that's a scary place to be. Scary way to live. I don't know what the answer for you is but this logic could be applied to every aspect of your life and make it very difficult to function, let alone get out of the house, or even bed.

I went through buy back process with my wife’s explorer st. Short story was gas tank issue causing gas station fuel pump to turn off after less than a gallon during fueling. SUV had less than 500 miles. Replaced every part up to the tank and issue continued to persist. Buy back was offered by ford. Did the paperwork followed instructions and was offered full pay back or discounted vehicle purchase. We opted for pay back. Purchase same exact truck. My dealership provided a loaner during the entire process. Be patient and work with the assigned advisor and you should have a fair experience. Really was a good process imo. On another note replacement explorer had oil leak day one and was in the shop for four weeks. Fixed and still driving. Things happen during Covid really messed up the auto industry and we are all still paying the price. Ford was fair with that experience too and offered a loaner and free maintenance service contract.

For all of these buyback experiences, was the vehicle still under manufacturer's warranty? I have a history of attempted repairs under warranty where the issue went away for 4 months. Now the same issues have returned, but I am just over warranty. I will be posting specifics in a separate thread, but figured I would see what the consensus was with these buyback experiences...

How many times have you driven in the rain that’s so hard working wipers can’t keep up? My truck had that recall they still worked. They fixed it and they still work. Can’t live life in fear of something. What about all the food recalls? We all still eat.

Hi Rick,

I'm not sure if you were replying to my question or not. I don't have a wiper issue, or a recall issue. I'm dealing with an electrical issue that 2 dealers can't figure out...My question was whether these buyback experiences were carried out by Ford while still under manufacturer's warranty.

I went through buyback on a 19' f150 process went super smooth no hassles on ford's end but it take around 30 days to complete.. only downside was dealing with a terrible dealership
