The EBB replacement did seem to fix the issue of the multiple clicking and kickback on starting. I still have single click most of the time when braking but overall much better than before the replacement - best of luck with your issue - i hope it gets resolved.
Thanks for the response. I picked up earlier this week after a week in the shop waiting for a new EBB and then the install. Has solved the multiple clicks and the brakes feel much more responsive as well. Similar to you I now have the singular click (seemingly coming from the pedal assembly itself) most of the time.

Agreed: much easier to deal with than the multiple clicks before. I'm happy it was covered under warranty and surprised how much better my brakes feel following the EBB replacement.

Thank you for the response. So far so good with the EBB replacement; the clicks are gone. Service manager said he has seen a few in the past with the same issue so they started replacing the entire EBB to resolve with good results.

However, that single click you describe when braking post repair; do you have ambient lighting in your truck? I had the same thing. It was so much more tolerable than the failed EBB I told myself I could deal with it. A few days later I was still hearing it over phone calls and podcasts so I decided I was going to take it back in. I crawled onto the floor and looked up at the brake assembly. As I moved the pedal I noticed a single string of wires leading to the ambient lighting bulb was touching the assembly itself. Once I moved them the click disappeared. I ended up using a zip tie and lightly cinching it down to keep those wires out of the way and my brakes are now totally normal. I'm attaching photos of the wires I'm talking about.

Thanks Larry for the hint! i dont have the ambient lighting but i took a look under there and didn't see anything obstructing the movement. I will mention it on my next service but it is a livable issue for the moment.

Hi - I have a '23 XLT SCREW - doing the same thing - I feel two clicks - one 5-10% the other after about 25% - I hear a noise as well - sounds like an electric motor whirl like if you spin it without power. I don't feel anything different with my braking. This is intermittent - doesn't do it all the time. I also have some pretty good kickback on my brake pedal on cold starts - hold break - push button start - audible and can feel kickback. I have an appt tomorrow with the dealer to see what they say.

** Update post service visit **
they found a code in the EBB (brake booster) showing an error - replacement EBB is on order
I have a 2024 expedition and I’ve only had it about 2 1/2 months. In day 3 after I got it, the clicking started. After a while in the shop they finally determined it was the EBB they replaced something first but didn’t fix it. But after 3 days it’s starting again. I also hear a click when I turn the wheel. I guess back to the dealership!

Sorry to hear that. The dealer I worked with told me they used to "put a bandaid on it" by replacing something else until they learned it wouldn't fix the issue long term. Now they do the entire EBB for this issue. Thankfully you should still be under warranty. The EBB itself can run 3-4k.

Well when it started I couldn’t get in before my vacation. We bought it with 1200 miles and now I’m at 4,000 miles so maybe I need another break booster.

Similar? Sure

Mine (non-powerboost) was much softer and on depression of the pedal would be multiple softer, more muffled clicks than the video in the linked post. Would sometimes even be 3-4 clicks per pedal press.

Mine would also be as apparent at a full stop and in park as they would be driving anywhere b/w 0-~15-20mph.

I'm around 6500 miles now and have not had any recurring issues after getting the brake boost replaced.

Hope this helps.
