While driving, the Bluetooth connection drops and reconnects at the same geographical locations every time. In other words, I’m driving on the highway and when I get to a certain overpass, the Bluetooth connection drops and reconnects about 20 seconds later. Any particular reason this is occurring? Ever Happen to anyone else?

I have a parking lot in town that a certain area between two buildings will wreak havoc on connectivity.

Gotta be some kind of interference in the air there?

i am laughing there a stretch of I-10 in mississippi near a prison that is close to the highway that i loose WIFI, Cell and sometimes the nav reboots every time i pass it

they must be jamming us, last for almost a mile

we have a place as you come into town that is an empty building, but it causes the heads up red lights in the edge to flash and make noise like the building is coming at you

We have some areas around us where this happens always in the same place. What’s funny is the wireless carplay never drops on my wife’s 22 equinox in those same spots. So it’s something with Fords wireless connectivity. I have up and just use the wired CarPlay.

Yes. It’s entirely normal. Bluetooth operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band. The ISM bands are portions of the radio spectrum reserved internationally for industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) purposes, not communications. The powerful emissions of these devices can create electromagnetic interference and disrupt radio communication using the same frequency, so these devices are limited to certain bands of frequencies.

Gradually, low-powered communications devices like Bluetooth and WiFi were allowed to operate in these bands. In general, communications equipment operating in ISM bands must tolerate any interference generated by ISM applications, and users have no regulatory protection from ISM device operation in these bands. Bluetooth is a very low powered protocol and is easily drowned out by some devices. There’s a very good chance a large ISM device is operating in the areas you have an issue, could be a number of devices. Ports, airports, industrial areas are all common places to experience such interference.

It is also normal that some devices behave differently in interference areas. Some devices may be more susceptible to interference, depending on their antenna, transmitter, and receiver designs. Distance between the devices also matters, as does the material between the devices and the interference source. That’s why one vehicle or phone model might perform differently than another.

I have experienced this in a variety of vehicles.

Merry Christmas to all..

Great info from the forum as always. Same happens to me, and glad it isn’t a truck problem.

I listen to an FM HD radio station and without fail, the station blips out every time I enter my block heading east after 300 feet. That one I figured is just a weak spot or interference.

I haven't had the Bluetooth disconnect but I ha e had my wireless Apple Carplay do that in a few specific areas around the Austin area.

One area was 100% of the time for a 3 month period by the new Children's Hospital near Lakeline mall.

The Apple Carplay would disconnect, Bluetooth would take over, then cycle it again before reconnecting about 1 mile away.

2.4GHz is pretty much a garbage band and as explained, connectivity can be spotty. It's all about the SNR. Microwave ovens operate on 2.4 and if you ever see a correlation between microwave usage and 2.4 being jammed, the chassis could be compromised to the point that it's detrimental to anyone around it.

I've been having the same issue where I live.
Has anyone noticed whether the issue can be cured by using the USB data connection to override Bluetooth
