I received this email from Ford a couple days ago:

You and your 2021 Ford vehicle with its Ford BlueCruise Prep Package have been with BlueCruise since the beginning. As one of our early adopters, we're offering you a special one-time discounted rate on a BlueCruise Connected Service plan - three (3) more years of service for just $600.* If you don't want to take advantage of this 3-year offer, BlueCruise Connected Service plans are also available at the regular monthly or annual rate through the FordPass App or your Ford Account.

If Ford representatives are monitoring this forum I want them to know that, since I have been with you from the beginning, I will not be renewing my subscription until you have my truck fully updated to the latest version of BlueCruise!
What a bunch of clowns!

To be blunt, if you use bluecruise it'd be foolish to not take advantage of the $600 offer. Ford will eventually OTA the latest features, but just the same for less than $100 and a saturday you can give your truck a full suite of updates bringing it up to the 2024's software.

Three years for 600 bucks? It’s currently 495 a year.

I think you are missing the point. Why should I pay for a subscription to something that does not include what others are receiving. It would be like subscribing to cable television and only receiving half the channels.
As for updating the truck myself so that I can get what Ford is giving other customers for free rubs me the wrong way and, as I said to Rugedraw, I can’t even get my fish finder software updated. I have no business monkeying around with a $70,000 vehicle!

In the current state, I no longer use it. Too many close calls in I 80. So it wouldn’t matter if it was $1 a year I still wouldn’t renew my subscription. If they get the truck updated to the current version of Bluecruise, I would give it another try.

Perhaps consider upgrading the firmware on your TV to get the other channels. All the cool kids have done it.

Your truck as it sits is for the most part how it was delivered. The $600 3yr special sub is unique. Yeah, in fact DON'T get it. It'll just operate the same it's been doing for the last 3 years.

I agree with you - Ford should be pushing all the available updates via OTA. Right now I believe they are doing that for Lightnings and MachEs? No idea how many of those are out there, but would believe many more F150s than both of those combined.

Someone said on here a long time ago “Ford is a car company not a tech company” and perhaps they don’t know how to handle such a massive OTA rollout to the F150 community yet.

I felt the same way as you for the longest time I’m not messing with my truck. For 50 bucks I just ended up wanting to take things into my own hands because I got tired of waiting and I knew others had success with it. For what it’s worth, once I decided to do it.. Updating the modules is straight forward and once you back them up (before you start making changes) you can always revert if something gets messed up.

I prefer to "drive" my vehicles rather than "ride"! That is a feature I will never use, bad enough there are little lights everywhere to tell you a car is coming! I do admit I like the "lady in the dash board" telling where to go! Fills in the gaps created when the lady in the passenger seat sleeps.....

I’m willing to gamble bricking my $600 television but not my $70,000 vehicle. I’m 70 years old and I know my limitations!

It's pretty much foolproof. Couple clicks and babysit it waiting for it to tell you to cycle the key.

OK, it sounded like you used it quite a bit and then was a bit upset that the subscription expired. I hardly ever use it. I’m rarely on a freeway. Mine expired after the first 90 day trial. I wasn’t going to renew it, but I’m going to have a 1200 mile two day trip coming up that I’ll be traveling by myself so I figured it might be worth the 50 bucks

Doubt I will use it after that. I’m rather sure I’m going to cancel the subscription.

We took a short trip north on I 25. Very few big trucks and mild traffic, which makes it much more pleasant. It tried to take an exit, at 80 mph, twice but I was prepared for it. Gave my brother in law a thrill though!

i understand the hesitancy of you are not technically inclined. if you aren’t comfortable doing it yourself, you could probably find someone on here that would be willing to help you. I would but Wyoming is a bit of a ride to get to me, especially without working BlueCruise!

Thanks for the offer but I’m not going to be utilizing the interstate much anymore, hopefully!
My wife was in a drug trial in Salt Lake and we were having to travel there weekly for a while. It’s down to every few months now that the trial has finished and with winter coming on, we will probably just fly down. I-80 is insane in the winter!
