I just set the work surface in place and used an awl to poke through the mat and to line up the holes, got them all started and then screwed it down.

I have just installed the Ford Bedrug today in my PowerBoost - went ok, but with all the accessories on the drivers side, it pulled the Bedrug a bit tighter, so it’s a bit further from the tailgate - but it’s just cosmetic
I also installed the Ford Tailgate seal before hand as well.
As you can see, I went under the Work Surface.

I expect to take delivery of my 2022 F150, Platinum Powerboost within the next week or so. Before I leave the dealership, they are installing a RetraxProXR, a Bed Rug, and a leveling kit.
Good choice, I just did the Bedrug and RetraxOne XR, picked the truck up Friday and just instealled them today.
I also added the Ford Tailgate seal as well to help reduce the dust

For those who went under the work surface, how hot does the work surface get? I was planning on going underneath as I'd like to use the work surface. Now that I have my truck, I let it sit in the sun all day to day and the worksurface got real real hot. Has this been an issue for anyone or made you regret going under?

I just hauled a set of tires down to the tire dealership to get studded snow tires installed. Hauled them back home and unloaded them. I got a small handful of carpet fuzz from loading and unloading the tires. I’m glad I had the work surface on top!
I haven’t had my tailgate down long enough to see how hot it gets. I do know that with the MX4 tonneau cover on, it gets darn warm in the covered bed and I haven’t noticed any damage to the BedRug from the heat as of yet.

Nicely done. I have the Retrax power pro XR and bed rug sitting in my garage. I plan to do all the trim work like you did, as well as under the work surface. Now all I need is my truck

Thanks,
I don’t get my truck back until Monday, it’s been for PPF and Ceramic coating, I’ve had it a week and only put 40 miles on it ?
So I’m looking farmers to Monday to get it back and start driving it.

Hopefully you get yours soon, mine took 3 weeks after it was built to get to Calgary ??

Hopefully yours is quick - good luck

I do have some concerns of the bed rug install has the truck is a dealer order and it already has a spray in liner. I have the Adhesion Promoter, but still wished I had the clean painted bed.

Mine was the painted bed, so it stuck well.
But I did purchase some industrial strength outdoor Velcro from Amazon as well - I used these on the 2x strips by the Tailgate, plus the Tape was black instead of white - so less noticeable.
By the time it is mounted in even if it doesn’t stick great it should hold well.
Good luck and post some pictures once you are done!!

Will do. Bed rug is sending me some extra of the red stripped Velcro ass it is suppose to adhere.

I'll post pictures eventually.

I had issues installing the work surface over the bed rug. The power tailgate wouldn't close.

Back to the drawing board tomorrow to try find a solution.

Edit: the material was just bunched up between the tailgate and bed. Easy fix. No issues since.

got any videos or pictures? I'd assume it bunched on the bottom maybe? Haven't seen anyone run into that issue and I've watched like 20 install videos waiting for my opportunity.

I'll add a pic tomorrow. It's certainly possible I left too much material at the bottom. Going to try pulling it a bit tighter.

To my eye it appears similar to others who've completed this sucessfully, there is a about a quarter inch of the paint showing near the top of the tailgate.

Pretty happy with the result of my bed rug install. Work surface tailgate over the rug.

A few minor regrets for the bedrug install but it worked out in the end. I was working in a bit of a hurry, a bad combo with having some level of car OCD.

2) During the install i chickened out of pulling the bed lights because they weren't budging and I didn't want to break them. Ended up cutting and didn't like the look. Ultimately popped off the lights, installed over the rug, and they look much better, just cut out a little more than needed on the driver's side. Passenger is perfect now.

2) Didn't get a super clean cut over the bed light button switch. Ended up adding a hook & loop (velcro) reflective flag patch over the button. The flag looks great in my opinion and the button functions by pressing on the flag. May end up swapping the flag for a circular patch. The patch is a solid option for those who aren't happy with a cutout they made around the switch.

The patches are a way for bed rug owners to add some non-permanent expression/ personality to the inside of the bed without it being outwardly visible on the exterior.

For those of you that installed yourself, how do you pop out the cargo lights and the light switch?

I started my install tonight but ran out of daylight.
