Mine will have the work surface, I've looked at them a lot at work and at my dealer. I don't really need or want it. If I had my way, I'd replace it with factory metal piece w/spray-in liner on it, if I could. time will tell if it holds up.
Mine peeled up today when the help at Theisen's dragged a 50lb bag of sakrete out of the box... Too bad I didn't have that new swing open tailgate!

The dealer I used took $75 off and left the tail gate alone. Said if I wanted it they would do it. I skipped the tail gate. It’s a little scratched but the work surface covers most of it. I don’t think it’s worth doing. It’s a truck.

Line-X wraps around the edges and does the entire tailgate (except work surface). Even did a great job removing everything in the bed.
Same here, they removed the work surface and sprayed the metal flange under the edges - but some Line-X installers may do different. I was given the option of remove or spray-over the bed bolts (no price difference), chose the former as that's what I have in my 2005 F150 and it's been great for ~2 decades.

Very happy with the job done on the 2022.
