I know this has been broached on here, but I’m still confused, so going to ask if and when a Blue Cruise 1.4 will be released over the air? I bought a used 2023 Platinum FX4 PB and it looks to still have another full year on the 3 year plan from the previous owner.

Searching it seems the 1.4 has been out for at least a year now and the truck is still at 1.0. I must say the 1.0 is very underwhelming, but what is said to come with 1.4 seems to address many of the issues I have with the 1.0. If there isn’t an OA update coming, I’m surely not going to pay after this years plan passes. You’d think they would push that out quickly to keep people engaged to renew? 1.0 is barely a party trick and not worth paying what they want to renew. Any help for the new guy on if and when this is coming?

It is coming. I have the update downloaded but my battery won't hold a high enough charge to install it. The very cold weather isn't helping much in that regard.

Currently debating whether to try and get Ford to replace the battery under warranty, or just pony up and spend my own money on it and save the hassle of dealing with a dealer.

When I talked to Ford they told me the BlueCruise subscription stays with the owner & VIN together NOT the owner OR truck so if I sold it with time remaining on my 3-year subscription both myself and the new owner lose it.

If I trade the truck after two years and there is one year left, I CANNOT transfer it and lose it.

I am very curious to know if that remaining year continues to work after the VIN transfers to you in all Ford servers.

Ford has only started to slowly release BC1.4. I updated back last year with FDRS. Initial people updated were in the insider group (beta), and now a few non insiders have received the update.

It does look like BC 1.4 OTA is finally coming. It started going out OTA to the "Early Access" folks a few weeks ago. See the discussion thread Bluecruise 1.4 is here, update installing now for the latest.
Yeah, that’s the thread I saw, but wanted to see beyond early access folks since I’m definitely not one of those. Didn’t know if any of us common folks had started to see it or had a date on it. I see the FDRS people can do it themselves, but I don’t have that and would probably brick my truck if I did. Haha. This newer Platinum PB is making me miss my simple ole 2018 lariat EB. They look similar, but the manners are like two different truck manufacturers.

Mine shows that I still have it through the 3rd year. Maybe because I bought it from a ford dealer?

Is the Factory battery that bad? Haven’t had THAT issue yet, but have had more in 3 months than I did with my 2018 Lariat in 6 years. Hoping it smooths out in the long run. I loved my old truck and hope to love this one as much.

There are a lot of threads about the factory battery here. I'm not sure if it is just the battery, but the charging protocol is suspect as well. Some talk of there just being a bad batch, and lots of batteries that test fine, but once they are replaced the truck magically comes back to life and loses its "issues."

To be clear, I haven't had any major problems, just the telltale signs of a low battery, and I can't see it holding enough juice to allow the update to happen. Currently, the battery seems to be dropping voltage quickly, even when it's been plugged into my charger. It's also been 0* overnight which most batteries don't appreciate. Personally, I'm thinking paying $180 for a new battery and not having to deal with a dealer and it "testing good" is probably worth it, but I'm also cheap and don't want to give away money.

Nah. I bought a used '22 two years ago. My Bluecruise is still active til April '25.

If you sell or trade in the truck, the subscription is gone. It follows no one (not you, not the new owner) nor does it follow the truck itself. No, you don't get to transfer it to your new truck, either.

EDIT: I've been told that this has changed. It used to be this way, but apparently you can now 'take it with you' to your next vehicle.

I updated my 2021 Platinum Job 1 truck to BlueCruise 1.4 last fall. FDRS/Mongoose Plus and FORScan/OBDLink MX dongle. BC 1.4 is a significant improvement over 1.0 - not just lane changes, but many other improvements to existing behavior.

As far as OTA delivery of ANY update: Understand that, even when Ford "opens the flood gates", EVERYBODY will NOT get it all at once. These are not iPhones. You don't just check, push a button, and get an OTA update (for anything). Ford pushes out the same OTA over a period of weeks or months. Your buddy might get an OTA update and you might see it a day later, a week later, or two months later. There is NO rhyme or reason as to when your truck might get it pushed out to it. It happens when the Ford mothership decides it is your time to get it.

Look at your sticker. IIRC, some are paying for it up front, while others only get a 90-day trial. I don't recall the details of what/when, as my 2021 was a Job 1 truck that came with the hardware but NO operable BlueCruise. Took a year and a lot of work to get it going.

There were a whole bunch of bad batteries from the factory, including many that sat on lots right after COVID, and even plenty after that.

Some updates will fail - and some will not even start to install - if your voltage gets/is too low. APIM and IPMA firmware updates are usually very large. Those of us updating firmware manually (with FDRS/Mongoose Plus) have to connect a battery charger that has a true power supply mode to maintain voltage. Otherwise, even a moderately weak battery will cause a failure to apply those larger firmware updates.
