Just in case anyone was curious.
Got my truck back last Friday 11/14/25. The leak was around one of the front bolts near the transfer case. They had to pull the whole transmission out and replace the case. Waited a couple weeks for all the parts. Hopefully that does the trick. :crazy...
It's already done on Expedition and Explorer. I'm driving an Explorer Active right now as a loaner.
No idea if it's coming to F-150s also. Would not be surprised. Really doesn't bother me.
GMC also got rid of SLE and SLT and went with Elevation for the lower trim. They all follow the same trends.
Got it taken care of pretty quickly this time. Rear output shaft seal was leaking. They ordered the part and replaced. I got the truck back in one week, last Friday the 15th.
They must have messed it up when putting it back together.
Still running smooth. No dead throttle issues or anything...
For me it definitely came out higher. I had it set on 2" and it came out to 2.75 to almost 3". They had to take it all apart and put it down to the 1.5" notch and it still sits at about 2.25" higher than stock. I measured everything carefully before and after. I don't like a higher looking front...
Well, the joy was short lived. The transmission is working fine but I went for an oil change at an Independent shop this morning and they told me the tranny was leaking fluid. :( :( They took pics and showed me. I also checked the garage floor at home and there's some drops.
Going back...
I seriously doubt there is any correlation there. I got the recall notice. It's a potential failure of the fuel pump that would cause the engine to shut off. Not the same issue.
Since I'm here - just wanted to say truck is running great!
Well gents, I finally have an update and it's actually good news!! I called a couple days ago to get an update. The SA I was working with is "no longer there"... pretty sure he was fired. I was just relaying what he had told me last time so sorry for the confusion with the whole stator thing...
It can definitely get messy. It will also cost a bit more than $30 for 6 qts and a filter. Plus the time and mess of discarding the old oil.
Sign up for marketing emails at the dealership and also your local oil change or repair shops and they will send you coupons for something like $40 oil...
I thought of that too. Yea, that would be the stator for the electric motor. I asked him what it was and he said something about being between the clutch and something else. I'm assuming he meant the torque converter stator. It would make more sense with the issue I'm having.
I'll have to ask...
That's an electrical stator coil, which is what I'm familiar with and first thought of when he said stator.
This is a part of the torque converter. Pretty much a metal impeller that directs fluid inside of the torque converter. It probably has other functions but I'm just learning about this...
Yea, I really have no idea. I asked him if that was the only part they are replacing or repairing and he said yes. He's not too talkative.
Last time I spoke to him a few weeks ago he said Ford told them to tear everything apart to find the issue "since it's under warranty". Just a guess but I'm...
Finally got a new update today. Had to call them a few times to get a response. ?
They are saying the stator needs to be replaced and of course it's on back order until the end of June. Transmission is taken apart so I'm driving the loaner in the mean time.
Not gonna lie, I had to Google it...
That's a bummer. Good to know though. I was about to buy the Livernois tune hoping it might fix it. I didn't want to do it since I'm still under powertrain warranty and also have 100k ESP. Glad I didn't now.
Well, I wouldn't say that for sure. One Service Advisor did tell me that the Yaw sensor was involved in what they were seeing with the PIDS when it was occurring. He said it was multiple things tied together causing it. I honestly don't know how all that is tied into making the issue occur or if...
I've done it several times with traction control disabled. It made no difference.
I can also reproduce it going perfectly straight - In parking lots or going through a school zone. For me it's always low speed, like 10ish mph and always after letting off the gas and coasting for a bit then when...
