Auto Stop/Start not working after subwoofer install

I noticed yesterday that my truck isn’t using the auto stop start at red lights ever since my audio installer added a sub/amp to my truck - 22 150 Super Crew

Nothing in my mind seems to conclude a correlation between - but I figured I’d ask before raising concerns for no reason.

I still get the indicatior on the cluster when brake is pressed fully - but not activating

Check your battery. Weak battery will kill ASS. SOC will make a lot of things stop working to safe power for starting truck.

How did your audio installer hook up power to the sub? Here is a caution about how not to do it from your owner’s manual, and also a note about adding electrical components in general. I’d say on something like a high draw sub/amp the note would apply even more. I’d upgrade my battery to an H8 if I were you, and not one from Motorcraft. Charge it fully first and reset the BMS.

To make sure the battery management system works correctly, do not connect an electrical device ground connection directly to the battery negative post. This can cause inaccurate measurements of the battery condition and potential incorrect system operation.

Note: If you add electrical accessories or components to the vehicle, it may adversely affect battery performance and durability. This may also affect the performance of other electrical systems in the vehicle.

Thanks! They are a very reputable shop for audio installation which is why I chose them.

The H8 is my next purchase - I just need to find a link to a ford parts website to buy the battery blanket for that battery. Oddly enough today as I’m writing this - I got out of my truck while running and my horn didn’t beep to alert me like normal. Might this fall in line also?

BMS reset tells the truck it’s a new battery.

I’d be happy they turned off the annoying start/stop. I put a Walmart best H8 in my truck couple years ago and not a hitch.

I'm likely going to get an H8 soon. I don't " care " about the stop/start exactly. I just want to ensure that everything that was working before the install is working after the install. Piggybacking off my prior - when I got to work, my horn did alert when I got out with the vehicle running so I'm thinking it must have charged enough to re-activate that feature ( based on possible draw/drain issues)

Does anyone have the H8 battery blanket part number? Thx everyone!

hahahaha I got used to it so I never turned it off via the button - but then I noticed it wasn't working.

I have the Powerboost, so off isn't an option so instead, I just drive around in Tow-Haul mode all the time.

Thank you all for your insight. Ended up going on a long drive yesterday and stop/start activated along with my horn indicator when leaving the vehicle while on with keys inside.

Battery will be getting upgraded!

Follow your owners manual below for how to replace the battery, reset the battery sensor procedure, reset window bounce back if necessary, and note your transmission shifting will have to relearn itself after battery disconnect. All in this page here:

resetting the battery sensor will tell the trucks computer that it is a new battery and thus charge differently than it was doing with the old battery
