Hi everyone,

A new problem with the shit wagon.

Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed auto hold doesn't always engage when I come to a complete stop. There's been more than a few times where I'm driving down a road that has more than one stop light and auto hold will engage when I come to a stop at some of the lights but doesn't engage when I come to a stop at others. The truck software appears to be up to date and I had a Sync update to version 10.1 a couple of weeks ago as well.

Anyone else see this? Anyone know the cause and perhaps a way to fix it?

Does the auto hold symbol display when it does work and holds you stopped (wavy hand looking symbol)? Does that symbol with a line through it display when it doesn’t work?

One of the conditions it requires to work is this: “Note: The system only activates if you apply enough brake pressure on the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a standstill.” Although I am sure you are fully stopped, this note to me implies there’s a certain minimum amount of brake pedal force required before it works. For example, if you just were slightly rolling forward and barely touch the brake to bring the vehicle to a stop, maybe it doesn’t pass this threshold of “enough brake pressure”??? I’m grasping for straws, especially since you say it’s a new problem and it worked before

Good questions. The green auto hold hand symbol appears when auto hold works (on my XLT its just above the "Ready" symbol on the button left hand corner of the small display in the cluster). When it doesn't work the no hand icon displays at all unlike when I put the truck in neutral where the hand symbol turns grey. When it doesn't work I've tried pressing the brake peddle down harder and it still doesn't engage. However, I drive down the road a bit to another stop and it works.

Once I figured out how to turn it off, I did so and have never looked back. Didn’t care for that feature at all.

Safe to assume you’ve tried turning the feature off cycling power, and turning it back on?

If the Off then On above doesn’t work maybe a sync reset (press and hold sync power and seek right buttons for 10 secs). I’m not sure that this will work either, but it’s free and it can’t hurt anything.

Press the brake a little bit harder post stopping. If you're able to get the truck to stop with very light brake pressure it might not engage.

Thanks for the suggestion. Its funny you mention it because that's exactly how I use the brakes when I have auto hold on. I think we just don't trust it enough unless if give it a bit of a thump.
