I'm team brain worm over here. If I was big oil which was broken up in the 30s I'd just own the automotive forums and have complete control of the information.

I'm not really for hybrids they are fine to drive. For me it's more up front cost, and the 2.7 twin turbo makes enough power for me. I do like the power boost as far as hybrid trucks go, lots of power and it increases your milage, unlike other hybrid trucks. I belive only the powerboost and Tundra 48v mild hybrid are the only ones available in the U.S. at this time.

The Tundra is a high voltage full hybrid. I know the PowerBoost domination of the copycat Toyota offering can cause confusion. ?

Hybrid drivetrains are in its simplest form just an ICE engine with an electric helper motor.
The ICE component in a hybrid operates the same as an ICE only vehicle.

Hybrids have some minor differences like an electric oil pump.
This keeps oil flowing at a lower pressure than operating pressure when running on HV batt only so when ICE kicks in, the motor is properly lubricated. It ramps up pressure when the ICE motor starts.
Electric water pump to keep the engine cool when running on HV only, and an electric A/C compressor to keep you and the batteries cool.

An EcoBoost 3.5 and a Powerboost 3.5 use the same basic engine with the differences I mention above. Same fuel pressure, same tank pressure.
The hybrid components are the variable.
There's no electric water or oil pump in the hybrid F150 ICE. Auto start stop F150s do have an aux heater core pump to keep the heater heating with the engine off by scavenging block heat -- the hybrid shares this. They also have the means to keep the oil system slightly pressurized, this is more of an anti-drain mechanism than it is an oiling one. Ford should have went with dual redundant electric water pumps -- the truck wouldn't need a belt had they implemented such.

There is a difference in how the hybrid's fuel vapor system works which is why there's a delay in popping the fuel filler door. It's not super special, but it's slightly different.

Poor tundra hybrid -- has a old giant Nimh battery under its rear seat

Yep.. you're right about the water pump...I forgot it's on the same belt as the BISG.
The oil system is an odd one as it still shows pressure (14-ish PSI) when in electric mode.
I assumed it was using an electric oil pump or even an aux oil pump to maintain the pressure.

I think we have an auxiliary electric transmission fluid pump that helps with shifting and such when the ICE is off.

Water pump is one belt, BISG is separate belt sans 2024 where it's deleted. I think the oil pressure transducer is an absolute pressure gauge which makes it read atmosphere. ?‍♂

Hahaha, sounds about right for the navy. Army here we just leave it and then say it’s user level repair ??
This is why the army hasn't lost a single ship to fire since WWII . . .
