Yeah happened to several people.. One @speedracercjr luckily I can get the files and manifest so I can help people but If I couldnt man.. people would be screwed. There is a thread about screen issues after OTA.. They sent out the wrong files. So they loaded the incorrect resolution and made the 12" the 8".. it was insane. I got all those people back to normal.

Ive had a full time job fixing fords screw ups with Blue Cruise and OTAs. People get so excited.. YAY an OTA.. oh it screwed my truck up.

Jesse can you help fix the billion dollar companies mess up.. Yes. I can.

Ford.. We sure hate that Jesse guy.. he needs to be banned form everythign we have because he is helping us by helping people.
Instead they need hire you and pay you the big $$$ ;)

I appreciate everything you're doing to help folks out. I work in networking/software engineering and was able to complete the ECM recovery myself when I first purchased my truck (dealership was useless). It's clear that Ford is not equipped to deal with software issues yet.

We ahve a stand up comedian the forum. ?

Ford has banned my vin from Fdrs they have closed an account of mine they have done all kinds of stuff.. yet if I hadnt been doing anythign I had I wouldnt be able to help how i do.

So example.. Patient Zero the very first Bricked BCM. He had his truck towed. Dealer strippded his truck apart. The guy said it was the bcm. Flat out. Bad update. Dealer said nO its the gateway.

So the BCM update was finally fixed and sent out corrected. The guy told the dealer to now run the BCM update. Dealer stated there is no way to communicate with the truckits dead. They said Ford Engineering tried everythign and its dead. I told the guy what to tell them to do. They said didnt work. So they told him he could go up there with his laptop and do it. I walked him through waht to do and what do you know. BCM updated and worked truck was running again. Yet The dealer said Engineering tried everythign.

Do you know how many times I had heard that from people that had their trucks at dealers. Do you also know the fastest and most absolute way to get me to ignore you.. Tell me but the dealer said. Ill block you and ban you an dbe done with you because if anyone on this forum still believes the dealer knows anythign about these trucks I have a lot of land to sell you primo beach front. Great price.

My comment still stands ;) I find that companies either embrace the community and those that really chip in, or they ignore, block, and shun them. It's the former that are more successful, IMO (esp in community engagement).

Ford should be saying "I mean yeah, this guy is making some noise, and maybe he's messed some things up, but overall, he's done good. We need that. He's doing more than the dealerships. Offer that guy a job"

That job could be in any number of areas. Also note, I'm not saying you should accept that job. But they should value your place in the community.

Oh I agree. I dont know why Ford dislikes me. They have NEVER reached out. You would think they would give me access or someone to communicate with. I would absolutely be a in between for them.> To communicate with them and share the goings on with them. They have to be willing though. They dont seem to be.

The issue with legacy automakers is they are still operating on old principles. They still want meetings about meeting and CYA is the most important thing. When inreality the most important thing is to get things right and make people happy.

I mess up. I do. I have sent out upgrades not programmed right I missed a bit.. It happens. Now when I hear about it I do everythign I can to correct it and Im honest. I screw up. I do a ton of the mustang digital clusters. I screw up on those time to time. Its human to make a mistake

Im not trying to make it seem as if I am so important.. but imagine the mess for a monet had the FDRS thread never started had I never joined had no one ever knew about the process and everyone was relying on dealers to get BlueCruise working.

I cant even begin to imagine how big a disaster it would have been. Fors still cried about MyFord Touch.. That would have been nothing compared to BlueCruise had Iceman not started the FDRS thread. Had people not taken the plunge into that world.

Iceman did FDRS because I told him about it and how he can update his truck without OTAs. So from what seemed like a guy by the way I had no idea who he was or how incredibly smart he was led to 300 pages of people getting their Trucks up to date. Iceman Is an INCREDIBLY talented web guy whatever they are called. Sorry not my field. Tonesto is another guy that is just incredibly talented. He also helps me A LOT! Things you guys do not see. Livinitup also contributes a TON to the community. So we have a bit of a team. Its nice to have others to lean on at times for help.

Anyways Ford would really benefit from thinking a bit outside the regular process.

BMW has done that, charged just for the luxury of using Carplay so I wouldn't put it past Ford
BMW is currently charging a subscription for use of factory installed heated seats and steering wheels in Europe and South Korea, they don't seem to be backing down like they did with Android auto (mainly because Google pushed back on them). I don't believe Ford would stoop to that level, it's disgusting.

Its crazy how many of the problems the community solves and how helpful everyone is but Ford wants to black ball people willing to help. sad really. your help is VERY appreciated!! Ford should also hire the guys that write the mods for sync3 stuff, those guys have made sync3 look sooooo much better !!

They’ll start charging really quick if they can make it profitable.

I’m a capitalist throughly and through, but this corporate greed is driving me crazy

I work in networking / systems engineering and my hobbies are wrenching on my cars and bikes. I think this truck is great for folks with that dual skillset. Unfortunately most service shops won't have people with that mix of skills / experience.

They would benefit from your and the rest of the team's expertise for sure. This place is a gold mine.

Unfortunately I don't think their legal department is going to allow this. The solution would be to start some kind of evangelist program and formally bring folks into the fold. Because without a whole bunch of signed NDAs and other legal stuff, they aren't going to empower folks on a forum no matter what their track record.

I'm betting Ford engineers are in favor of this and their legal department is blocking this. Brings up all sorts of questions about liability, intellectual property, allowing access to 3rd parties without a legal framework to their customers' trucks etc for them as a company. For us individually since we own our own trucks its a lot simpler to navigate.

Exactly! Auto mechanics and software engineering are very different. Completely different set of skills and problem solving. It's going to take some time to get people cross trained. I also know a lot of mechanics that want nothing to do with the computer side of repairs, almost need to create a separate engineering role within dealerships or something.

The techs who will make these trucks sing are in middle and high school right now.
