APIM PMI With FDRS Help

Has anyone successfully programmed an APIM from a different truck while in their truck? I cannot get FDRS to program a 12" screen APIM in my truck since it came with a 8" screen APIM. I pulled the fuse for the TCU and changed the VIN numbers in all of the modules that I could and that got me far enough through the PMI process to make the USB drive. But I can't get it to install off the USB drive...looking through Forscan the only modules reporting my old VIN is the PCM. I tried disconnecting the PCM to see if that would help...it did not. Any ideas? Tricks? Black magic?

I noticed the security file that is loaded onto the USB drive is VIN coded...has any computer guru's looked at modifying the .DER file? Not sure if that is possible...but in today's age...anything is possible it seems.

If nothing else will work, what is my option? Find someone with a 2021 truck that came with a 12" screen and ask nicely if I can do the PMI process with their truck on my APIM?

The people who know how to do that here do it for a living and cannot help you. You would have to buy the parts from the company to get support.

Correct.

Did you copy the AB data from your old APIM with FORScan and put it on the new APIM when you did the swap? If you didn't, the minute you plugged the truck into FRDS, you uploaded the data off the APIM you put in onto the server and now most likely have mismatching date between the truck and the mothership.
