Considering these trucks come with a built in CAI and dry filter, I'll keep the factory set up and save my money.
One of the reasons I haven't jumped on such a product is that it's a ram air intake and without proper dyno fans (which the marketers of the product clearly won't do) you can't actually see real-world gains. One of the best in the industry does precisely that. AFE's dyno results are laughable. If they can't be serious about doing dynos on the same truck the same day, I can't trust their results, let alone the fact they didn't actually do any type of ram-air proof of gain.

These trucks have when stock and modified a cold air intake.

They do NOT have Ram Air at all just because the intake is pointing forwad to a crack between the grill and hood.

True effective Ram Air systems are damn hard to make work to actually ever get any positive pressure. People have tested systems on Corvettes that have way more going on than the F150 has and haven't seen changes in air pressure even at 160+ mph.

One could argue as to the effectiveness of its ram air capabilities, but not that it's one.

There is nothing to argue, it's not a pressurized air intake in any way shape or form. I don't say that in an argumentative manner, believe what you want.

These things can be measured quite easily with scan devices and although I've never seen anyone try on the PB, I have seen them test huge purpose-built intakes on Corvettes and an air intake has to be very specifically designed to create any ram air effect at all. Like a constant diameter straight tube placed in front of the vehicle before air effectively parts, with a dead straight shot to the intake and no curves at all.

If anyone bothered to place a pressure sensor in the air intake of the PB, you would never not have a vacuum, or be at atmospheric, even at very high speeds with the throttle chopped. This is obvious with a cursory glance. The intake isn't even at a high pressure zone where it has the opportunity to have air forced in.

Once again, not trying to be rude, but just accurate.

If you want a ram air intake, you have to get the Cervini ram air hood. I happen to love mine, though be forewarned that attaching the plastic part that completes the flow path form the inlet to the air box is a bit challenging. You also need to add some kind of screen on the intake, which you can do with epoxy and some aluminum, and then you have to paint the whole thing (Cervini's is GREAT with fiberglass but TERRIBLE at matching factory pain) and get it installed, whihc just adds to the cost.

After my first oil change and the Afe CAI installed and most of my day drives are light to light I am staying in the 21mpg . This weekend drove up to Atlanta I’m 45 minutes south. Went up 3 times and with doing 80 mph and city stop and go stayed around 22 mpg .

I just got the AFE installed.....it is loud, but only when you mash the pedal. Highly recommend.
