ANNOYING SQUEALING WHILE DRIVING 2021 LARIAT

So I recently moved a couch in the bed of my truck and I had my vehicle in 4A had no problems. Parked my vehicle then an hour later when I was driving home the first half of the drive was normal when I switched back into 2A this squeaking noise started. Does anyone have any idea what the hell im hearing?

Could be the rear axle recall problem just hit you. I had mine go out suddenly 2 weeks ago with no warning after 3 years on my 21 Lariat. Started making a very similar noise. Had my truck inspected per the recall 6 months ago and it passed back then. Might want to have it checked out.

I would suspect an IWE hub actuator

This is probably the failed axle bolt. My 2023, which apparently not covered by the recall, just had the same issue.

Look at the dust caps on your rear wheels. If either one has some odd rusty dust emanating out, pull the wheel off and you'll probably find your axle bolt snapped off inside there.

Build date is also on the sticker inside the driver‘s door. The one that has the GVWR & tire pressure recommendations

i'll pull it after i get it back from the dealer... been sitting in their lot for a week now.

-Does increase with RPM?
-Does it stop\decrease, when you press brakes gently?
-Can you drive past someone on your street and see if they can tell if it's coming from the front or the rear? Driver or passenger?

I had a similar issue and had a rock caught between disc and dust shield.

Got the truck back. Looks like build date is Feb 2023, so the 23S65 recall doesn't cover me... which is interesting.

edit: I called Ford's recall support number and opened a case. Will report back with details as i get them.

Have a similiar issue with my '21 PB. Same sound but not as loud and intermittent. I've been keeping an eye on the hub bolts (had one replaced a year ago or so) so I don't think its that. I'm guessing its related to the dust shield but haven't been bothered enough to take the wheels off to check (or take it to the dealer).

i got a call back from Ford, wildly unhelpful.

the lady told me that Ford is either unwilling or unable of taking care of this issue on their end and recommended I contact NHTSA instead. so I did. now i'm waiting on that.

i guess Ford hasn't heard of voluntary recalls... or customer experience. if NHTSA ever comes around in this one and expands the recall, I wonder if blowing me off was better than the alternative.
