2021 3.5 29K Miles Squealing on Startup

Just started getting some squealing on startup. Not sure if it is cold weather related or not. Anyone else have anything similar? Bearing going bad? Belt not tight enough? Taking it to the dealership on Monday for something else. We’ll see what they say. See attached video (I was in a hurry, so I didn’t pop the hood).

Sounds like an idler pulley bearing to me. My 5.4 Triton did that and after I replaced the idlers it was silent.

Did you ever find a solution for this? My 21 3.5 is doing the same thing.

I had something like that. It was the transmission. It was low on fill from the factory. But the issue was it only showed up when temperatures got down around 15ºF. This being from transmission fluid shrinking with temperature. Saw that others had that but with different temperatures, so the factory fill was a bit different for them.

Hi @Ford Motor Company - did you happen to get any diagnosis here? I am glad i found this thread because I am experiencing the same exact thing. 2021 3.5L and just hit 42K miles. I just had it serviced at the dealership and forgot to mention. The squealing only happens for about a minute before I drive away.

I got the same problem 2023 Lariat 12k miles on it. Cold start cold weather starts to deliver this chirp for 30 seconds to a minute then it disappears.

I have the same sound on my 5.0 when it was warm on remote starts. I am guessing it has something to do with my A/C because I haven’t heard it since it got cold. When I turned the key on and opened the hood the sound went away so I couldn’t pinpoint where it was happening.

Since you mentioned you are 5.0, you might be right. This can be AC-related. OP and I are ecoboosts.

Bump…I have exact same noise, same front side of engine. 2021 3.5 EB 74000 miles.

Pretty sure it’s not belt. Sounds like a bearing. Idler? Alternator? Other diagnosis?

My 21 3.5 just started making the same noise at 58k.
why doesn’t anyone on here post what the problem was and how it was fixed?

Could have sworn it was an idler, but new belts fixed mine.
