Thanks for the link, I will be buying one. It will be handy to have, not only for the compressor, but for anything else I might want to run that has a high initial surge.

Just bought one myself. Just seems too handy to have to me too!

FWIW, my cheap Bostich pancake compressor works without issue on my PB. Not sure of your compressor goals, but it might be easier to ditch it for something else without as high of an in-rush current vs chasing solutions.

Try starting the compressor with the pressure released so there is little to no backpressure on the motor. Turn off the compressor, connect an air hose, put a blow-off nozzle on the end, blow air until the tank is empty. Then keeping the nozzle open, flip the compressor switch to “on”. You could also do it by tripping the over-pressure relief valve.

The compressor was completely empty when I tried it on the truck. The compressor stays unplugged until I need it. It is portable, when I need to air up the tires on one of my trailers, for example, I run it until it shuts off, then wheel it outside to where the trailer is parked.

I will not be buying a new compressor because of this, I was just trying to see if I could run it off the truck for sh*ts and grins. I did, however order the splitter plug for the 240 volt generator outlet. When it arrives, I will try it out and report my results here. If it doesn't work, no big deal. I will still keep the plug, it might come in handy someday for plugging something else into the truck.

Well, for anyone wondering, no, the splitter that plugs into the 230 volt/30 amp outlet didn’t stop the truck’s breaker from tripping. The air compressor started initially, but within a couple seconds the breaker tripped. I did try a 3/8 drill and a circular saw. Those ran without issue.

Oh well. Like I previously stated, no big deal. It was just a try it for the hell of it type of thing. I had/have no plans to use an air compressor on my truck.
