This type of stuff is super interesting to me but was wondering what is the driving factor for most people doing this after they buy the truck. is it
1) general cost savings because you don't have to upgrade to a more expensive package/trim?
2) found a truck in stock but it didn't have this feature
3) decided you wanted this feature after you bought the truck but didn't think you wanted it at the time of ordering?

For me it's number 3. I figured I wouldn't care about lane centering. At first I didn't. I tried the lane keeping and thought it was neat. But never really used it. So initially I was happy I passed on the option thinking lane centering would be pretty much the same thing. Wrong.

My wife bought a Bronco Sport with Lane Centering and adaptive cruise. After I tried it out and realized how different it was vs lane keeping, I kinda want it. Not sure if I'll ever add it to the F150 but, who knows.

It's #2 for me. Found a truck with everything I was looking for except ACC. Definitely going to add it once I feel comfortable after more research about how to do it.

Sometimes you arent aware of a feature or if you would use it. There are many reaosns to add a feature. Sometime one feature you want is baked into a bunch you dont want. A lot of mustang guys only care about the 5.0 and dont care about leather and heated seats. They want that digital cluster though. So they add it. The ability to add things is really what makes you able to build the truck to your liking. The price of vehicles these days is absurd. Some of us cant afford anythign other than teh absolute base truck. We may make long trips and would like to help with that and add adaptive cruise. Same thing withthe 12" screen.

You dont always know what you want until you experience.. Some people arent aware of a feature until they see it on another truck or hear someone talk about it.

With credit to @superfordman and @Jesse-Infotainment, IACC just added to my 2021 501a which didn’t come with Co-Pilot Assist. So far it’s working great.

Summary of parts required for a 501a add:

Bumper Harness: ML3Z-15K867-MA (CCM + LED fog + LED DRL, no front parking sensors or front side radar)

Steering Wheel Switch: ML3Z-9C888-DA (Adds distance button)

CCM: ML3Z-9E731-G (New part number July 2022)

Bolt: W720714S450B (x3) for CCM assembly

As mentioned earlier in this thread, further wiring would be required for trims that don’t have the CCM wiring from the IPMA to the bumper harness.

Installing the bumper harness required nimble hands and someone strong to hold the bumper while disconnecting harnesses. The steering wheel sensor took a moment to find the airbag clips but after that was smooth. A good amount of forscan changes in multiple modules, and setting up and leveling the brand new CCM. Forscan completed the calibration required afterwards, which took about 5-10 miles of driving straight.

The forscan changes vary by configuration and took some research on @Livnitup spreadsheet but overall straightforward. Changed are required in ABS, APIM, BCM, IPMA, IPC, PSCM, SCCM, and adding VIN to CCM for PMI. All DTCs cleared after calibration.

If you want to take it on, it is do-able!

Glad you got it handled. It really is a fantastic add. Really helps eleveate fatigue on longer drives. I love it.

Another big/good update! Just a few days late. My buddy with a 300A got his CCM all wired in, then I worked my magic to configure everything, went out to calibrate the CCM, successful on that, turned everything on and everything worked just like it should! ACC, lane centering, and TSR/IACC all worked perfectly right out of the gate.

So like I said before, I think as long as you have an IPMA you can add everything above by simply just adding the CCM up front. I was able to double check all the changes needed so have a pretty good idea of what needs changed to enable everything, so will try to get that list cleaned up and shared out for everyone when I have a chance.

Do i have to run it straight from the CCM to the IPMA or from the CCM to somewhere else and then to the IPMA?

Same for me. I ordered the package. A couple months they removed it from my order. I'm glad I still managed to get the 360 Camera. Though it would be that much more useful on a larger screen -- dammit Ford!

Use of the bumper wire harness depends if your truck is pre-wired for the CCM somewhat already. Look back in the posts and I explain what connector to check at the IPMA to see if that is the case or not. If the truck is pre-wire, you need the bumper harness, if it isn't pre-wired, you need to run your own harness from the IPMA to the CCM.
