Add Tailgate Release Button on the 2025's?

I did a little more comparing to my 2023 Lariat that had the switch and the Power tailgate.

For 720-12-01 my TGAW was set to enabled (A)

I can't see how that would enable the switch, but why would I not have the tailgate ajar warning? So I will try to change that and see what happens. I'll check if I have a tailgate ajar warning first. I do recall a warning that the pro access door was open.

I'll report back with my findings.

I can confirm this does not enable the tailgate switch.

the difference between the “2” and “A” is the visual pop-up for tailgate ajar.

I'll have a look at that tomorrow my time; in the meantime, are you sure that there is a connection (a wire) that has been provisioned from the switch harness through to the tailgate module (RTGM)? It should be this:

Oops. I had a 2023 with the Tailgate release. Now I have a 2025 without it. I updated my profile as I missed changing the year until you mentioned it.

I checked the wiring on the 2023 powerboost and then on the new 2025. The same connector and wires (visually) are present. This is why I believe we should be able to activate the switch somewhere in a module. If we can find this, I'm sure many people want the tailgate button back.

I took the risk of getting the parts and installing to make testing easier. If all else fails, there is a hard-wire workaround provided in this thread. I'm comfortable doing that however I hate cutting factory wiring. I like to avoid that if possible.

Thanks for the advice. I was finally able to find the bezel on the ford website and confirmed that p/n with a used vehicle VIN that looks to have the trim panel I need. Looks like I can order both the bezel and switch from a local dealer for about $92 plus tax.

Would love to hear feedback from others that have done the installation and any additional thoughts/guidance you have. Overall doesn't look that bad, except I don't like the idea of cutting and replacing/rerunning the one wire.

NO. I got the panel you show above. There is no insert, its a solid panel. Mine had no spots for a switch. You will need the dual switch, but you won't need the panel.

Mine is a PowerBoost, so I have no start/stop switch there today. The part number I posted should be for the java color trim piece with the cutout that the tailgate release would fit into.

I looked back and someone said that the same connector was used for the Stop/Start. Someone also posted a picture of a dual switch. I don't think this is Stop/Start, looks more like its for the Tailgate and Pro-power. Still looking the correct split switch.

The one in your photo is the only one I've seen as well That's why I was asking.
