When I really want to have fun and get creative, I fill up with 1/2 Rec90 and 1/2 93 E10. It yields a really expensive 91.5 E5, but my Powerboost loves it. ???

Of course this is a 5.0 thread, but at introduction the 2011 3.5 was the fastest stock pickup truck in the USA when running on 93. As proven by many tests by automotive enthusiasts at the time. :)
Stock the GM 6.2 trucks were faster and remained faster until 2018 it became a wash. 2021 the Fords are the fastest.

My 5.0L is faster than my aunts Yukon Denali 6.2L up top, i pull forward on her once I’m out of 2nd gear. She has me in the low end, 5.0 loses ground off the dig then quickly starts reeling it back in. Not sure how 5.0 would stack up to the 6.2 in the Sierra since they are a bit lighter.

A used $10,000 truck also has all the power you ever need. And you are saving $40,000+ vs. the pocket change you "save" by filling up 87. ?‍♂
You're the kind of guy that replaces a truck avery few years... In my case I take a longer view: My GMC Suburban has gone 30 years. If you run the numbers, keeping your truck that long means it was less costly. But you gotta do repetitive maintenance, monitor performance, and use good lubricants. I do that. PS When you keep a truck that long, I buy NAPA lifetime warranty stuff from them and then get replacements several years out for free... :)

This guy owns both in pickups, his 5.0L SCrew beat his 6.2L High Country SCrew 0-60 on the dragy when both returned to stock wheels. It was tight but the 5.0 pretty much eaked out a win each time. Unfortunately for GM fans you can’t get their good motors in lighter trims like the Ford STX, they force you to be slow unless you get a heavy tank. A King Ranch vs a High Country might favor the Chevy, but Ford lets us get their premium V8 in any trim we want :). Don’t hate the player hate the game.

Around 2020, maybe it was the 2021 You can get the 6.2 in the lower trims. It was only available in top trims from 2014 to 2019 or 20. They don't sell many low trim 6.2 trucks though. Typically special order.

I do know Ford past them in 2021, but not by a ton. The 6.2 was fastest with the 6 speed, then the 8. 10 speed is the slowest per the tests. Motor Trend has done a lot of testing too and the GM usually eeked out the win until the newest Fords.

GM did require 91 octane and I believe the official recommendation was 87 from Ford. That could be part of it, is my understanding is the magazines test the vehicles with the octane gas in which they're rated for.

Sounds impressive. Two beautiful women tearing up the streets in upstate NY!

If you don't mind, I need your expertise below. And anyone else that has any idea of what's going on there. I'm extremely confused.

Reading your posts in this thread convinced me to not fill up my entire 36 gallon tank with pump e85 (which is at minimum 55% ethanol) if the max ethanol my flex fuel tune accounts for is e40. I'm burning off a lot of extra ethanol for nothing. I should be able to put regular gas in there and still be above e40. I just don't know the calculation yet. But the thread below is about oil quality. My transmission is the smoothest it has ever been (and the engine is quieter than it's ever been) after I changed my oil yesterday to one that has the additives Ford recommends; Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.
