Two things come to mind:...Do you know why it quiets down after it's warmed up? What's changes?
1. Just like in the old days when the carburettor had to be choked with a cold start, the same is true here: the system will command the engine to run rich for a while; rich engines always sound "throaty"
2. Presumably as part of point 1, the cam phasers will be commanded to change timing; this happens all the time in response to different situations. The phasers work best when warm, and it takes a while for warm oil to flow through them.
I have no empirical proof of the above, but researching the coyote (because I've ordered one) leads me to believe these things.
