I get that - good point. Ditto fishing kinda spoils the mood at sunrise, fog lift and a good cup of coffee. Agree on the Borla Tour as wellPlus, I hunt a lot and my current new 2023 5.0 is louder than my stock GMC 6.2 was so sneaking up on site is a huge factor for me.
That’s how I feel. The stock exhaust growls very aggressively for a stock setup when you get on it but very quiet when you are low in revs. Ford did a good job with getting induction noises into the cab this gen too, it really comes alive when you get on it. My 5.4 never sounded this aggressive. When I’m driving to work at 6 AM I appreciate the quietness at low revs.Honestly I like the growl when you get on it and like how quite it is with the stock exhaust.
Well written, stated - good pointYeah and some folks believe switching out just your muffler will give you same benefits but it won’t, cats back is much more beneficial due to larger pipes as well as flow increase. I once switched out just my muffler on a 2008 F150 king ranch and later regretted it as it was louder but noticeable more back-flow creating less power. Plus, after having a huge number of trucks throughout my life I’d recommend tune first then S&B CAI and then exhaust as it’s a process or imo just crank up some loud hard rock music which should give you same amount of noise but you’ll at least be able to turn down the volume lol. Good luck and God Bless

How far past the muffler did he go? Would have to check to see if this passes inspection in my state.I spoke with a guy with a 5.0 that sounded great. I actually followed him after hearing it until he went into a parking lot. He said it was a stock muffler and all he did was dump it. That is what I am going to do. I love the sound of my stock 5.0 when I hit it so dumping it will be even better.
Which MBRP?I went with the MBRP direct swap. The 5.0 is the only engine I would upgrade with one. I thought it sounded a bit tame as stock and this one added just enough bite to know it’s there. I don’t think the cylinder deactivation sounds bad either. Good luck!
