How do I control where the HVAC blows air on a 302A?
I don't see buttons on my dash.

To add to this, in my former F-150s (1998 and 2006) using the windshield defroster would run the AC condenser (to dry the air, I think), which definitely would pull some power (and presumably MPGs) from the engine, so I just got used to only switching defroster on if I needed it. In my new truck, the AUTO setting only sends air through defroster vents (edge of dash and vents facing side windows) and floor vents - nothing through the face vents.

Can anyone confirm that the AUTO and/or defroster settings does run the AC condenser in our trucks?

From my understanding Auto will run the AC/heat, as well as adjust the airflow speed and zone output as needed to hit the target set temp.

Thanks, I know this, I'm asking whether the defroster runs the AC condenser off the serpentine belt.

If the AC light is on when defrost is selected, then yes. You can turn it off but that significantly reduces its ability to remove interior fogging/condensation.

The AC light does not come on when the defrost is on, but that doesn't mean the truck doesn't run the AC condenser with defrost (it might only indicate when actual air conditioning is on). Hmmmm...
